Challenge 029:
BAIT AND SWITCH
(noun; phrase) 1. the action (generally illegal) of advertising goods that are an apparent bargain, with the intention of substituting inferior or more expensive goods. / also: "a bait-and-switch scheme"

It's a dishonest trait as old as barter itself: using the lure of something too good to be true and springing the real, lesser version on someone at the last minute. It's a tactic that appears in more areas than just commerce, too: it can also be found in travel, law, politics and entertainment. People respond to this duplicity in all kinds of ways: some go through with it, some try to bargain for the original deal, and some get angry about being tricked! Write a story where someone is, or almost is, swindled in this way.

BONUS GOAL: One Way Mirror

If your submission contains a scene featuring the use of a one-way mirror, that entry will earn an extra point to be tallied during voting!

Challenge ends Monday, January 23rd at 9:00PM EST

Challenge 028:
OLD FASHIONED
There's almost no generation that doesn't long for the 'way things used to be'; people are always looking backward through rose-tinted glasses. There's no denying that the past is often a simpler time, and the way things were done just made more sense. Maybe you didn't even know you were 'hearkening back' to the good ol' days? Or were you just showing up someone who thinks the latest and greatest tech is the only way to get things done? Write a story in which a character uses old-fashioned methods to get something done.

BONUS GOAL: Silence is Golden

If your submission contains no spoken dialogue (internal thoughts are fine), that entry will earn an extra point to be tallied during voting!
