Challenge 022:
DEJA VU
(noun) 1a. the illusion of remembering scenes and events when experienced for the first time. 1b. a feeling that one has seen or heard something before 2. something overly or unpleasantly familiar; from the French adjective, literally already seen.

That peculiar sensation when you feel like you've already done something before, whether you actually have or not. It's enough to throw even the most composed characters for a loop! Are they experiencing a happy, or sad recollection? Do they know it can't be true, or does the mind allow the possibility of what if it were? Write a story where about a character experiences a sense of deja vu.

BONUS GOAL: Half Pint Edition

If your submission is fewer than 500 words, that entry will earn an extra point to be tallied during voting!

Challenge ends Monday, August 29th at 9:00PM EST
• Post your submission as a new entry using the template in the profile

Congratulations writers, we've got a flock of 5 entries this week!

List of entries )

In order to vote, please reply to this post using the form provided. All comments are screened, and entries are listed in the order they were submitted. For your vote to qualify, you must fill out your entire voting card (all three spots) in order to be counted. First place votes are worth 3 points, second place votes are worth two points, and third place votes are worth one point. Meeting the bonus goal on an entry gets an extra point for that submission.

When voting, please copy/paste the ENTRY NUMBER and the FIC TITLE from the list above into the spot you're voting for (this prevents accidentally mis-numbering a vote and casting it for the wrong entry). It should look like this:

First Place: 61. Fic Title Here
Second Place: 88. Another Fic Title
Third Place: 47. Finally a third fic title goes here

Please note that you cannot vote for your own entry, and that votes cannot be made anonymously. You do not have to be a member of the community in order to vote, nor have submitted an entry for this week; everyone is welcome to participate in the voting. IP addresses are logged to prevent duplicate voting.

Voting closes Wednesday, August 24th, at 9:00PM EST.

Challenge 021:
BIRDS OF A FEATHER
People tend to associate with others who share similar interests or values. Sometimes this allegiance is willing, and sometimes it isn't, but strong bonds can be formed where parallel goals are in play. Other times, people simply want to appreciate the company of those who are like-minded about something, especially if it's a circumstance that not many share! Write a story in which characters find themselves aligned over a common theme or objective.

BONUS GOAL: Plummage

If your submission contains some reference to actual feathers, that entry will earn an extra point to be tallied during voting!

Hello writers! Due to some real life things, and a vacation in which I'm not going to have any internet access for a bit, the community is taking its own mini vacation for the next 2 weeks.

I'll be leaving the Amnesty Week Month?? running during this, so enjoy a bit of writing downtime and we'll be back to normal midmonth.

Challenges will resume Wednesday, August 17th.

Thank you for understanding!
