Challenge 097: WHITE LIES

This prompt was suggested by effingunicorns! Most people can agree that lying is pretty bad. After all, deception can lead to serious hurt and consequences all around. But is there such a thing as a “white lie”? Maybe sometimes it’s kinder to tell a small lie rather than reveal a painful truth. Maybe it’s easier for everyone to tell a story that leaves out the hard parts, as long as no one ever finds out. Some people might call those excuses, but other people would say that misplaced honesty can lead to just as much hurt as a lie. Write a story about white lies. BONUS GOAL: “I did what I had to do.” If your story includes this line, it will earn an extra point to be tallied in voting!
