Challenge 001: NEW BEGINNINGS

We're going to start off with a nice broad theme for our first round! New beginnings can represent turning points in character's lives, providing them a fresh start, perhaps when they need it most. Sometimes these changes are willing, and sometimes they're not. This could be anything from starting over in a new city, to entering a new relationship, or even gaining a new understanding of themselves. Write a fic themed on the idea of a new beginning. BONUS GOAL: "It happened on the first of the month." If your submission includes the above phrase of dialogue, that entry will earn an extra point to be tallied during voting!

Is it okay to just mark my hypothetical works as ineligible if I'm not interested in the voting aspect of the community?

No, all entries submitted are automatically part of the voting.

That's gonna turn out pretty demoralizing for those of us with super-small fandoms.

I hope it doesn't! If you want to submit the work and don't care about the voting, why would it matter if you won or not? (Don't get me wrong, everyone likes to win, but if an entry was going to be marked ineligible, I don't see the difference, as it wouldn't win anyway.)

That said, if you're concerned about the voting totals, please be assured that we're not making them public. We don't want anyone to feel singled out, or upset anyone who might be uncomfortable having everyone know what their result was.
