Fandom: CSI: NY

Summary: Flack and Lindsay hunker down in the face of winter weather in New York City.

“This is what everyone’s worried about?”

Lindsay stares out the window of Flack’s midtown apartment, watching as snow coalesces around them. The two detectives had retreated inside after the news of the oncoming storm, and the snow is coming down at a reasonably brisk pace, but it’s not quite the mess she expected. The news had been making it seem like the storm to end all storms, but Lindsay’s reasonably sure she’s seen worse. She hears him move behind her before turning to face him.

“You know that if you live on the Rockies side of Montana, you can get up to twenty-five feet of snow in one winter.”

“That sounds terrifying, Monroe. But it also doesn’t surprise me.”

She smirks, before shaking her head. “It just seems like New York is making a bigger deal out of far less.”

“You say that now,” he begins as he walks a glass of wine over to her and peers out the window himself. “But you know what New York is like on a good day. Do you want to go out there in any terrible weather, and run the risk of people driving like maniacs in a place this tight and cramped?”

She takes the glass of wine from him, considers, and then nods before taking a long sip. “You may have a point.”

“Thank you,” he gestures for her to come back to the kitchen. “Now, can we eat, please?”

“Did you order out? In this weather?” The gentle ribbing continues as she leads the way back to the kitchen, taking a deep breath of the delicious wafts of garlic and other herbs coming from the kitchen.

“Of course not. I cooked.”

She pauses, before glancing back at him over her shoulder. “You cook?”

“Of course I do. Do you know how expensive it is to eat out in this city?”

She pauses again before holding up a finger. “Are you good at cooking?”

He gives her a look as he eases past her. “Lindsay. C’mon.”

She laughs. “Sorry. I mean, I know you have a good palate but … I didn’t think that translated into actually cooking for yourself.”

“I don’t get to do it as often as I like – you know the hours we work.” He shrugs. “But when I have the time, I like to take the time.”

“Well, it smells delicious.” She peers over the plate in front of her, roast potatoes and steak, and she picks up one of them to go with her glass of wine. “So, where are we eating?”

He shrugs as he does the same. “I figured we could find a movie, enjoy our wine and steak, and hang out until the snow clears. How about you?”

Lindsay grins, before making her way back to the living room, plate in hand. “I think a little snowstorm cuddling sounds like a fantastic idea.”

Flack grins and follows soon after her to enjoy their hopefully call free evening alone together.
