“Alright.”

Ava paces in front of them using the space between the console and the library to exude her position and authority as interim captain. In front of her, is Nate, Mick and Charlie, all looking somewhat ashamed of themselves.

“Let’s take this from the top. Who wants to start explaining first?”

Silence comes from the front until Nate raises his hand to get her attention. “I feel like this is the part where we shout ‘you’re not our real mom’ and then storm out.”

Ava rolls her eyes. “I’m serious, you guys. We got there and everything was literally on fire. What the hell happened?”

Nate sighs, glancing between his two compatriots before sighing. “Fine. So we got caught by the Encore and were trying to figure out a way out of it …”

“Guys, we gotta find a way out of here,” Nate sighs, pacing back and forth in front of the door. “With everyone split up on separate missions, we’re not going to have any backup. We need a better answer than hurry up and wait.”

Mick grunts. “I’ve been in worse prisons than this. We just need a breakout plan.”

Charlie glances over at Mick, before turning back to Nate. “Maybe we should pull the nuclear option?”

Nate looks at Charlie for a long moment, like he’s considering it, before shaking his head. “No. We can’t be that desperate.”

“Think about it,” Charlie nods, stepping forward and resting a hand on his shoulder. “I shapeshift into one of the guards. We sneak down to where they’re keeping our weapons. And then we pull the trigger.”

“Do you know how much damage that could do? Once we pull that trigger, we can’t take it back.”

“Maybe not, but at least we stand a chance of surviving.” Charlie pauses as she reconsiders. “And if it brings down the building around our heads, at least we go out in a blaze of glory, yeah?”

“I’d rather not go down at all.” He considers, before glancing over his shoulder. “But either way, I guess we probably should try and slow down the Encore; however, we can.”

Charlie grins widely, before moving towards the door. “So what do you say? Should we pull the trigger?”

Nate sighs, before turning back to Mick and making his way closer. “Hey, buddy. How do you feel about burning something down?”

A wide, manic, dangerous grin crosses the larger man’s face as he gets up to join them out the door. “I’ve been waiting all day.”

“You burned down the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory!” Ava’s hands fly out to her sides as she finishes taking in the story in its entirety. “Do you have any idea how much cleanup we’ll have to do?”

Nate scoffs. “It was going to burn down in two days anyway. It’s not like we changed history that much.”

Ava buries her face in her hands before she looks up and points to the side. “Out of my sight. All of you.”

The three of them start to wander their way out, and as they turn the corner, Mick claps his hands on both Nate and Charlie’s shoulders, giving them the same manic grin as before.

“That was fun. We should do it again sometimes.”

He then passes between them to head towards the kitchen, and Nate and Charlie stare after him, looking very concerned.

“I’m starting to see why they call that the nuclear option,” Charlie begins.

“You and me both.” Nate glances back over his shoulder before turning and heading towards the jump ships. “I’m going to see if I can get a hold of Kuasa.”

“I’m going to go hide the Heat Gun.”

“Meet back here in twenty?”

Charlie nods before they fist bump each other and part ways to try and douse the spark of excitement they’ve now ignited in their arson-happy friend.
