Essentially, we want to make sure that the voting stays fair, and promoting just one fic elsewhere can skew the votes. You're welcome to post a link to the community with "I wrote a fic for this, come check it out!" but linking directly to your fic or crossposting it elsewhere should wait until after the voting period ends.

For Amnesty rounds, where there's no voting period at the end, you can promote and cross-post your fics whenever you like.
