Title: When Heartache Leads To Cheesecake
Fandom: Laverne and Shirley

Word Count: 300
Summary: Laverne has some interesting gossip for Shirley as they make dinner together.
Laverne was in the middle of making dinner with her best friend when she spoke up. “You’re never going to guess what happened today.” Shirley was chopping up a giant head of lettuce for a salad while Laverne turned the heat up on the spaghetti she’s boiling.
“What, did you finally get Arnold from marketing to take your number?” Shirley asked.
“Kind of,” Laverne said. “I taped it to the back of his jacket.”
Shirley paused, turning toward Laverne. “Really? Are you in love or trying to get someone to kick him?”
Laverne stuck out her tongue. “Now I’m not gonna tell you about how Black Jack and Tully walked in on Bertha and Louie making out in the hops room.”
“Bertha Trotsky and Tall Louie?” Shirley asked, her eyes widening. “Really?!”
“They saw it with their own two eyes, and I heard it with my own two ears!” Laverne said. She was draining a huge stock pot of noodles into the sink. It was an ordinary Thursday, and they had a cupboard filled with pasta and a saucepan of her Pop’s marinara that he’d insisted on foisting on her that morning. At least they’d be eating well ‘til their next paycheck. Shirley had made some bread the day before, and they had Pepsi and beer in the fridge.
“Oh my God,” Shirley said. “I’ve seen a lot of couples come and go at the brewery, but Louie and Bertha.”
Laverne shrugged. “They’ll have really tall kids. Or really hairy ones.”
Shirley wanted to hear more about how hairy Bertha was, which lead to a full-on discussion. Laverne enjoyed being with her best friend so much that she didn’t even complain when the sauce burned and stuck to the bottom of the pan. It was much more fun to gossip.
