[#131] ONCE UPON A MIRROR (PHANTOM OF THE OPERA)
Theme Prompt: 131 - Nostalgia
Title: Once Upon a Mirror
Fandom: Phantom of the Opera
Rating / Warnings: PG
Bonus: No
Word Count: 148
Summary: Sometimes Christine remembers a different mirror.
Sometimes Christine remembered when life seemed simpler as a humble chorus girl at the Paris Opera, chosen by a mysterious tutor who taught her to sing from behind a mirror in her dressing room. The promise of being a star upon the stage.
Then Raoul, her dashing friend of childhood turned up... and it was the beginning of the end of her life at the Opera.
They're married now and Raoul gives her everything a woman is supposed to want; a lovely house, beautiful dresses and jewels, servants of her own. An imposing mirror reigns in her dressing room - but there's only a blank wall behind it.
She doesn't sing as much now; Raoul frowns and mutters about the neighbours overhearing. He talks pointedly about getting the nursery set up.
Sometimes she runs her hand gently over her mirror, wishing to hear those familiar words, "Christine, attend."
