[#141] The Plan (James Bond / Transformers crossover)
Theme Prompt: #141 - Inspiration
Title: The Plan
Fandom: James Bond / Transformers crossover
Rating/Warnings: General | None
Bonus: Yes
Word Count: 605
Summary: (Optional)
AN: Judy Dench will forever be M to me (unless I write book!verse Bond). It's up to you how Bond looks like. This time I didn't went with any specific look.
The same goes for Makepeace, as I would have probably spent too much time browsing through pictures of Aston Martin's.
“That’s a terrible plan.” The mechanical voice interrupted Bond’s train of thoughts. He had spent the last twenty minutes pacing around in the hotel room, trying to come up with a plan on how to survey the person in question and gather the highest amount of information at the same time, while he explained said plan to his partner.
The current mission only allowed them a short time frame, if they would fail months of hard work would be completely in vain. M had made it clear, that she expected her best double-o agent to succeed.
“Do you have a better idea, Makepeace?” Bond signed, pressing the phone closer to his ear.
“We don’t have much time and who would be better suited to spy on …”.
“I beg your pardon Sir, but I’m certain you’re well aware of how dangerous this could get for me.” Makepeace remarked with a displeased tone, which caused Bond to image that if Makepeace would be next to him he would probably look down on him with slightly dimmed optics and his best attempt of a pouty face he could manage.
“Are you afraid to ruin your paint-job? Or do you dislike the idea of temporary adopting a less pleasant vehicle-mode?” Bond’s lips curled into a crooked smile. The silence at the other end of the line was enough to convince him that he had hit the bullseye.
They could be both peacocky. He loved expensive suits with matching accessories and Makepeace loved nothing more than a flawless paint-job, the finest interior and the newest vehicle-mode available on the market Aston Martin had to offer, of course with some alternations which weren’t part of your ordinary Aston Martin and which could only be provided by the MI6.
“That’s not the reason and you know it, James.” Seconds later Makepeace had found his ability to speak back. “And if you allow me, to give my humble opinion, but this idea sounds not like your usual clever ideas. It lacks your creativity and style.”
Now it was Bond who felt silent, repeating Makepeace’s words. He stop at the table and while he held his phone with his head against his shoulder, he lit a cigarette. “Sometimes you just have one shot and you have to take it, no matter how unfitting it might be.”
“James, this plan sounds as if a toddler was playing double-o agent.”
Bond nearly dropped the cigarette and the phone as well, when he heard Makepeace’s judgment about this idea. “We live in the 21st Century, we don’t have to go all old-school.”
Bond wondered if he was just getting older and therefore thought the old-fashioned way of Makepeace pretending to belong to the cartel was the one, that would work the best or if he was simply unimaginative, at least at the moment. Or had he spent too much time, dwelling in memories about past missions and what has worked back then.
Makepeace was right and Bond knew it, but right now he didn’t felt like admitting that. Instead he heard himself saying that sometimes the old-fashioned ways were the best.
“You miss the ‘good old days’, right?” Makepeace tried to let it sound as if he was joking and friendly mocking him, but he failed. Back then, they had done some risky but fun stuff to successfully fulfill any mission the MI6 had assigned to them.
“Nothing wrong with that”, Makepeace added, while his own thoughts were busy with coming up with a plan, which would combine the technological wonders of the 21st Century with Q’s shrewd ideas and a tad of old-school spy methods.

Makepeace is Not Having It XD
“James, this plan sounds as if a toddler was playing double-o agent.” I laughed out loud at this point. What an execellent line.

Yeah, same here. It's just too much fun to write someone being fed up with Bond because sometimes he deserves that.

Hopefully Makepeace can come up with a plan that will give Bond some old-fashioned fun while still getting the job done.

I love the old-fashioned style so much and at first I wanted to see if I can come up with something in Cold-War-era.
Let me tell you, it was so nice to write Bond again. I always loved to write this character.
