[#144] A Historical Pin (Transformers G1/WWE Crossover)
Theme Prompt: #144 Invincible
Title: A Historical Pin
Fandom: Transformers G1/WWE crossover
Rating/Warnings: Teen - Implied Violence
Bonus: Yes
Word Count: 989
Summary: Megatron and Optimus having the most important fight in their career
AN: Time Units I use in all my Transformers ficlets
The crowd was on the edge of their seats whenever they entered the ring to fight against each other, which usually ended with both of them being in need of repairs. Professionalism, scripts and acting aside, it was no secret that they had their own difficulties in their private life as well.
Three Deca-cycles from now they would face each other for a historical match: not only would it celebrate a special number of Stellar-cycles of their rivalry, it would also be a match for the Cybertronian champion ship and whoever of them would win it, would be the number one with the most champion ships. The cherry on the top of this upcoming highlight in Cybertronian entertainment was, that it would be the first event held in the newly build arena.
Megatron took a break from training, a cube of Energon in one hand and a tablet in the other. He leaned against the wall, one of his feet constantly tapping on the ground. His optics were fixed on the screen which presented him with the newest talks about his upcoming match against Optimus. Right now every expert, reporter and fan agreed that no matter who they saw as their favorite and no matter the out come, that this match would write history.
It was entertaining to read the wild guesses from the fans what would happen and to what future events this would lead.
At the moment they both were as clueless as the fans, since the creative team was still working on a script for the evening. Their match would be the main event and therefore needed to spectacular and it would be another turning point for them: one chapter of their story would end and a new one would start, when the winner would look into the optics of the defeated.
The creative team, lead by Thundercracker was having heated debates on who should be the winner. If they would let Optimus win, then they would have the opportunity to get Megatron a new gimmick, along with some modifications and let him come back stronger, ready to take the championship from Optimus. Thundercracker argued that, Prime winning the championship would be another proof that he seemed to be invincible. Skywarp was more in favor of a script in which Megatron would win the championship along with revealing a new side of him once he would hold the championship in his hands.
“The public needs a ‘hero’ to win this time, and even if it isn’t for long.” Thundercracker stated.
“Even heroes have weaknesses. We’ve made up that Optimus is kinda invincible because he is the ‘good one’ in this feud.” Skywarp countered. He gazed over to Starscream for help, who by sheer change caught his look when he looked up from his tablet, on which he had written a few ideas.
“He has no known weaknesses.” Starscream remarked and turned his attention back to his tablet.
Astro-minutes of silence. Each member of the creative team seemed to be searching within their memory bank for a solution to this problem.
“It may be more obvious when we look at Megatron, but Optimus’ ego is his weakness as well. He thinks of himself as superior because he sees himself as the good bot.” Starscream dropped the hint the creative team had needed.
The creative team wrote the build-up for the two Deca-cycles leading to the event, giving it a darker turn. With every passing show the fans got more hyped up.
While Optimus laid on his resting bench in between training and even more training he read once more over the script. That was definitely not what most of the fans were currently expecting to happen. They would enjoy every single Nano-cycle of it and Optimus knew that he and Megatron would have the time of their existences.
Megatron and Optimus looked into each others optics but no one said a word before they silently parted to prepare themselves for the moment they would walk out, thousands of spectators cheering or booing for them, an even greater number of Cybertronians would watch at their homes.
They couldn’t barely stand on their feet, the ground of the ring covered sprinkled with pink splashes, just like them. Optimus stood in the corner of the ring, optics fixed on Megatron as he prepared for the finishing move. He knew that the audience would see him as the winner in the moment when he would run towards Megatron with the last reserve of strength he had in his body.
He clenched his fist and mentally prepared for Megatron’s counter and to deliver.
Megatron felt the anticipation increase within himself. He was astro-seconds away from the biggest triumph in his career. He kept the exhausted expression even he wanted nothing more than smirking at Optimus. It was a series of movements he could execute with closed optics. He had gotten hold of him and the moment when he kicked his leg away and smashed him face forward onto the ground, was the one where he could finally smirk down on him.
He heard the referee counting backwards but not the bell that announced that the match was over. He felt the referee raising his arm and then the announcer stated that he had won the Cybertronian championship.
Megatron needed a few astro-seconds to realize that the match was over and that he was now the number one fighter on Cybertron. Finally he was better than Optimus, he had shown that the bad guys can be the first one to break records as well.
He threw the belt over his shoulder and stepped towards Prime, who had delivered well and was still laying on the ground. “Now you’re were you belong, Optimus.” Megatron remarked as he put a foot on the back of Optimus’ head. “I hope you learned you’re lesson, just because you have a noble heart, doesn’t mean that you’re invincible.”
AN: It's possible to do a reversal of the Superman Punch into the Skull Crushing Finale. I though the latter would be a nice finisher for Megatron here because it is fitting for the slight humiliation afterwards.
