Title: When All You Have is Hope

Summary: Ever since Jeff left Winters, all Tony can do is worry.
He can't move, speak, or do anything besides stare into what little distance the tiny room provides. It happened so fast, he didn't even get a good look at who'd grabbed him up and stuffed him into the tube alongside the others. He (sort of) recognized Jeff's father, but that's it.
He wonders if Dr. Andonuts is scared, too. If they weren't trapped, maybe they could talk. Maybe I could figure out how to help him and Jeff make up, or find out why things are so strained between them...I mean, other than the obvious.
He knows Jeff's not alone, but it's Jeff that Tony worries about the most. Even before he set out on his journey to help Ness and the others, he's always been Tony's hero. Smart, braver than he gives himself credit for, kind, he's always been there until now.
I know you'll save me, but...
It's been so dangerous lately. Even before he got captured, even before the aliens, Winters was overrun with wild animals attacking anyone they saw, or wild cave boys, and the caves filled with bugs and other creatures. He doesn't know what's lurking down here, and that scares him more than anything.
Jeff doesn't think he's very strong, but he's smart and Tony knows he can get through anything with the power of science and bottle rockets. When the call came for him, Jeff immediately took it and went to save those two because he's just that kind of person. But Tony still worries, he's been worried ever since Jeff left Winters.
What if you get hurt? That scares him more than not being saved, because if Jeff doesn't come to save him that means he's been hurt, or captured, or-
Tony squeezes his eyes shut. No. That won't happen, Jeff's going to be fine, he's not alone. He breathes deeply, thankful that at least these scary tubes aren't filled with some kind of liquid. Right? He'll be fine.
Time passes, he's not sure how much. He can't even hear what's going on outside, the room is airtight. His muscles ache from being still so long, and all Tony can do is worry about Jeff, wait, and let a small selfish part of himself hope he'll be rescued soon by the person he looks up to most.
Jeff may be one of four heroes destined to save the world, but to Tony he'll always be the hero.
You're my only hope. So please, Jeff...
