Summary: If Christine is in danger from the Phantom, then Raoul will be her hero.


Raoul is the younger son in his family. Nothing is really expected of him, as long as he doesn't bring disgrace on the family name.

At the Paris Opera house when he reconnects with his childhood friend, Christine Daae, he's delighted. She's beautiful and her golden voice has made her a rising star.

Raoul's not sure about this mysterious tutor of Christine's, though. Why, she's never actually seen him, only heard him from behind a mirror.

As time goes on, there's mysterious deaths and nervous talk of the ruthless Phantom lurking under the Opera, in hidden passages and everywhere that is dark and shadowed.

At times, Raoul sees fright in Christine's eyes as life at the Opera threatens to spin out of control.

Something then became crystal clear in Raoul's mind. For the first time he can be the hero - Christine's hero.

That's who Raoul will see every time he looks in a mirror from now on.

Oh I love it.
Believe me I squeed when I read "Phantom Of The Opera". I adore the book/movie/musical so much.
I used to write a lot for it over a decade ago.

Same here. It's probably the oldest fandom I am writing for now and then. I also very much enjoyed "Then Phantom" and wrote a little crossover with GOT for last years 3 Sentence Ficathon.

It's one of my oldest fandoms too. When I first went on the Internet eons ago, I first went looking for POTO fan sites. :)

The crossover sounds interesting. Sometimes I've written 3 Sentence fiction.

There is a certain magic to the story that keeps pulling you towards it over and over again.
In the past I have written both book!verse and movie!verse but not much was written in English.

I hope to come across a prompt this year where I can write for the fandom again (and this time a longer piece than the last one).

There is a certain magic about POTO, yes. I think one of my favourite adapations was the 1990 TV mini series (with Charles Dance) that was actually filmed at the Paris Opera.
