Challenge 163: GIFT

Birthdays, holidays, anniversaries, just because – sometimes, people like to give gifts. They can be big or small, free or expensive, carefully chosen or hastily grabbed last-minute, they might not even be physical items, but whatever they are, the common factor is that someone thought they would make a good present. Sometimes they’re right, and the gift is welcome, expected or not – but not always! Some gifts make for very unpleasant surprises. Are your characters giving the gift, or receiving? If giving, do they put time and effort into picking the perfect gift, or grab something at the last second? If receiving, is it a good gift? Or is it something that they absolutely do not want? Write a story about a gift. BONUS GOAL: “You really shouldn’t have.” If your submission features this line, it will earn an extra point to be tallied in voting!
