[#180 | Eavesdropping] Challenge Post

Challenge 180:
EAVESDROPPING
Most of us know the frustration of knowing that there’s a very important conversation happening that we would like to hear, but can’t, for whatever reason or another. But is listening at the door a good solution?

Sometimes eavesdropping can provide important information – a warning that something bad is about to happen or a secret has been discovered, the key to solving a mystery or making something work. But sometimes you just hear something you really didn’t want to hear after all! Maybe someone has an unflattering opinion of you, or something bad is happening that you can’t do anything about, or maybe you just learned something intensely private that now you wish you hadn’t.

Do your characters eavesdrop, or are they the ones being eavesdropped on? How do they feel about it? Do they take precautions to avoid it, or go to great lengths to do it?

Write a story about eavesdropping.

BONUS GOAL: “If you’re going to listen at the window, do it quietly.”

If your submission features this line, it will earn an extra point to be tallied in voting!

Challenge ends Monday, May 29 at 9:00PM EST.
