Summary: William drops in unannounced.
Jim was in bed when he heard his father's heartbeat at the door. Oh, shit. Jim didn’t know where his bed partner was and William didn’t know about them.
Jim jumped out of bed and pulled his sleep pants on and pulled a tee shirt on next and rushed down the stairs. Blair was in the bathroom, so Jim was safe. At least for the moment, anyhow.
Jim opened the door and said, “Sorry, Dad. Late night and I wasn’t expecting you.”
“I thought I would come early for the game and dinner. Is that all right? You always tell me to come early and we can watch the pre-game show. I was lonely today and thought I would do just that.”
“It’s fine. Come on in. I’ll wait till Blair gets out of the shower and then I’ll jump in. Sorry. We got home very late last night.”
William sat down on the sofa and asked, “A case?”
“No, we went out with some friends from work and had too much to drink and eat. It was fun, but now my butt is dragging.”
William and Jim continued talking in the living room while Blair was in the bathroom having a nervous breakdown. He could hear Jim and William talking which was fine, but Blair was naked and didn’t have any clothing in the office. Blair didn’t know what to do. After all, they hadn’t told William about their living arrangement as yet. Now, Blair was stuck in the bathroom alone while Jim had a nervous breakdown. It only seems fair that we both have one.
Jim was getting concerned about Blair not coming out when Jim realized, Blair was probably naked. Oh, shit.
“Jimmy, maybe you should check on Blair. He’s been in there for a long while. Go on, see if he’s all right.”
At that moment, Blair whispered, “Jim, I don’t have any clothing in here and I’m naked. Any suggestions?”
Jim realized he was going to have to do something. He turned to his dad and said, “Dad, I have to get a towel and some clothes for Blair. Hang on.”
And just like that, Jim walked up the stairs and got some towels and some clothing for Blair. He brought it down and knocked on the door. Blair opened the door and whispered, “I’m so sorry.”
Jim handed everything to Blair and left him alone to do his thing. Jim walked back over to the sofa and sat down. “I’m sorry you had to find out this way, Dad. I hope you’ll still stay and watch the game with us.”
“Jimmy, do I look like an idiot?”
“Not hardly, Dad.”
“I’ve known for months, but I wanted you to tell me. This was as good a way as any to tell me.” And then William laughed.
Jim laughed too and said, “Blair wanted to tell you months ago, but I was afraid you wouldn’t approve.”
“First of all, Jimmy, no one needs to approve of you and Blair being together other than the two of you. Never worry about anyone else. Tell Blair the coast is clear.”
Jim got up and knocked on the door. Blair opened it, completely dressed and said, “Is it safe?”
“Yes, we were just laughing. He’s known for months. Come out and join in.”
And Blair did just that. He needed to laugh.
