[#215 | Normal] Challenge Post

Challenge 215:
NORMAL
What does it mean to be normal?

Well, if you’re a chemist, it means “having a concentration of one gram equivalent of solute per liter”. But for the rest of us, ‘normal’ is often a thing that goes undefined. It’s easy to assume that our own experience is typical and that others are the deviation – or that our experience is the deviation, and no one else could possibly understand it. “Normal” is something we’re supposed to strive for – but what does it actually mean? Is it even possible for something to be normal?

How do your characters feel about being normal? Do they think they are, or know they’re not? Do they clash over different ideas of what ‘normal’ means?

Write a story about being normal (or not).

BONUS GOAL: “You know that’s weird, right?”

If your submission includes this line, it will earn an extra point to be tallied in voting!

Challenge ends Monday, April 8 at 9:00PM EST.
