Summary: Kids are petty sometimes, and Shen Yuan is in over his head. He also can't understand what goes on in their brain and their father doesn't seem to be helping.
Binghe hates his dad’s new partner. They didn’t do anything exactly, but they’ll never replace his mother and they should know it.
“For the last time Binghe, I am not dating your father, I am just your teacher.” Shen Yuan tried to explain. “You can even call me Shizun if you want.”
“It’s a trap,” Bingge told his brother. “Remember what happen to the last one? She was also a Shen, called herself the future Madam and pretended to be a princess.”
“My sister has her head in webnovels, she isn’t actually evil. It was just harmless fun, really.”
Bingge looked at Shen Yuan like he was the dumbest person alive.
“And isn’t that exactly what a green tea bitch would say,” he drawled in a way that frankly had no business belonging to someone so young.
Also… “I don’t think you’re supposed to say that?”
Shen Yuan couldn’t remember how old his charges were. Binghe’s little bun face made him seem younger than he was (about 6 probably), but Bingge’s… everything made Shen Yuan think he was a young teen. He also knew that they were twins, which was baffling and not helpful at all. Shen Yuan was kind of surprised Bingge hadn’t eaten his twin in the womb.
He sighed. “I’m just your music teacher. You should really go to your father with all of these concerns, and I’m sure he’ll set you straight.”
There. Shen Yuan was the adult there, and he was going to be mature about this, unlike the absent father Shen Yuan had barely ever seen.
His hopes were quickly dashed. “That’s why we know you’re lying. Father let it slip we were going to get a new parent soon.”
Shen Yuan blinked. Stared at Bingge, who was still glaring at him. Turned his eyes to Binghe who seemed hopeful and disappointed at the same time, which was such a lethal combination that Shen Yuan turned his eyes to Bingge right away. He wasn’t one to gaslight people but…
“Are you sure you heard him right? Maybe you’re mistaken?”
Bingge's lips curled into something that was too dripping with disdain to be a smile. “Gaslight, Gatekeep, Girlboss,” he said, each word punctuated with a mocking clap. “I didn’t know you had that tactic in you shizun!”
The last word was spat out and dripping with poison. Shen Yuan was beginning to regret ever taking this godforsaken job
