Summary: The first day in the TV is extremely enlightening for Naoto.

For a group who brought themselves together to save people in a mysterious world beyond the screens of televisions, Naoto was extremely shocked to see how unorganized the so-called Investigation Team was now that she was a part of it. Souji-senpai approached her over lunch and said today would be an excellent day to actually go do some Persona training, before saying something that she didn’t exactly catch about there being nothing else to do on rainy days. The rest of the day and subsequent equipment trip to Daidara was somewhat intriguing, especially when she realized that he sold firearms, of all things, as well as strange things that seem to be used as armor.

Once they were through Junes and in the other world, Souji stared inexplicably at a wall for a while. When he seemed to pull himself back from wherever he was, he came over and asked if she could take him to where her lab was. She couldn’t help the obvious wince that crossed her face before she sighed and nodded. The group had done so much for her that she couldn’t deny them anything she could provide at this point.

At first, things were simple. Souji-senpai and the rest of the team helped her through learning how to use her Persona, and find out what the spells she had actually did. It was simple enough... or so she thought. Once they got to the second floor, things started to fall apart quickly. Kanji-kun was confused by a strange Shadow that looked like some walking DNA, and started hitting Teddie on the head before Yukiko-senpai was able to calm him down. Something about another Shadow made her feel like she wanted to run away, much to her own embarrassment, and a surprise strong hit from another Shadow knocked Chie out. However, the final straw was when Yosuke-senpai sneezed, falling over and almost getting himself knocked out as well.

Souji-senpai found them all a room blissfully free of shadows and handed out sodas to the group, along with some strange-looking things he called Soul Food. It was strange, she realized, leaning back against a wall to watch the group. They talked, they laughed, and it wasn’t long before she herself was beckoned over to talk with the group. In spite of herself, she smiled a tiny bit and went over.

Twenty minutes later, the group was refreshed, and back to the grind. Slowly, but surely, the group, somewhat to Naoto’s surprise, started to work a bit better. Rise called out the Shadows’ weaknesses and strengths, people started working to defend each other much better, and by the end of the four floors they worked through, while they were far from a well-oiled machine, they were certainly a group.

By the time they were all dragging themselves home, tired, but happy, Naoto realized she had a new investigation. What was it about this group that made it gel so quickly? Whatever it was, in the short time they were working together, it certainly created a solid, well-oiled team.

This is really well-done.
