Challenge 038: BETRAYAL

n. the act of betraying someone or something or the fact of being betrayed : violation of a person's trust or confidence, of a moral standard, etc. A betrayal can change the entire course of a character’s arc. Suddenly, a trusted ally, or even a close friend, has proven themselves unworthy of that trust. The character’s faith in themselves or in their quest may be shaken. Maybe their goals will fail, or someone will be put in danger or even die. Write a story about someone being betrayed and the resulting fallout. BONUS GOAL: “I've got the sinking feeling that I can never go home.” If your story features this quote, it will earn an extra point to be tallied in voting!
