Challenge 052: VOLUNTOLD

Being voluntold could be considered the exact opposite of volunteering! When someone asks for volunteers, and gets none, they might just pick someone and declare them to have “been volunteered”. Some people will even skip the “asking for volunteers” step entirely and simply pick someone, framing a direct order as something voluntary—though it’s clearly not. A character’s reaction to being “voluntold” can demonstrate a lot about their feelings toward authority, and about that authority figure’s approach to their position. Write a story about someone who’s been “voluntold” for something. BONUS GOAL: “That wasn’t a question.” If your story includes this line, it will earn an extra point to be tallied in voting!
