Summary: Barry gets thrown into his latest undercover mission.

“Which means we need someone to get inside.”

Oliver finishes speaking, and Immediately, all the eyes in the room turn on Barry Allen. In true Barry fashion, it takes him a second to realize that they’re all looking at him. Then another second after that to know they’re looking at him because they’re expecting him to do something.

“Wait, me?” Barry straightens some, pure confusion on his face. “Why me?”

“Because you’re the least recognizable,” Rene points out factually. “The Legends are the Legends, Kara just won a Pulitzer and has worked with Cat Grant for years, Kate’s a public figure, and Oliver … well, none of our faces are secret anymore.”

Barry nods slowly, weighing his options. “So you want me to go, as myself, to this bar and try and get some information on these people?” One hand comes up to rub the back of his neck. “Are we sure this is a good idea? I mean … I am technically a cop.”

“No offense, Barry, but you’re not exactly the kind of cop people remember after they leave,” Dig points out, and Barry wants to be offended …

… but Diggle has a point. Running a hand over his face, he turns to face the rest of the group, before nodding. “Okay, okay. I can do this. Should be fine. It’s not like I haven’t gone undercover before.”

Oliver gives him a look like he doubts the sincerity of that statement. “How did those times go, Barry?”

Barry shrugs. “I got what we needed, and everything ended fine. I think that’s the part that matters.”

Another prolonged silence hits, and Oliver shakes his head. “Maybe this isn’t such a good idea.”

“What? You’re the one who said it had to be me!”

“Just because it has to be you doesn’t mean there isn’t another way that we could get this information. Maybe we should look at other options.”

“No, stop. I can do this. Really.” He stares down the rest of the team, before pushing up his sleeves. “You said it yourself; I’m invisible. I’ll blend in, and if things go wrong, I’ll just superspeed myself out of there.”

Kara frowns before turning to face Barry again. “Are you sure about this?”

“I’m sure.” Barry flashes her a grin. “Should be fun.”

Three hours later, Barry pushes open the door of the bar, and every single eye ends up on him. “I take it back,” he mutters to himself. “This doesn’t seem like fun anymore.”

Oliver’s voice appears soon after: “What was that, Barry?”

“Nothing.” Barry quickly makes his way to the bar, trying to seem natural. He waves down the bartender and orders a beer, and Oliver’s voice is in his ear again.

“Is that a good idea?”

“I’m blending in!” He takes the bottle and shifts to lean against the bar, before bringing it up to his lips to take a sip. “Besides, it’s not going to do anything for me anyway.” There’s a long silence on the other end of the comms, and he quips. “I know you’re giving me that silent judgy look, and I just want to say, I don’t appreciate it.”

“Will you focus, Barry? Please?”

Barry sighs before turning to face the rest of the bar. “Alright. What am I looking for again?”

“They said that the files were going to be in a briefcase for transport. Sending you a picture now.”

His phone buzzes in his pocket, and Barry fishes it out, pulling up the text from the unknown number of your typical silver briefcase. Barry’s eyes return to the scene again, glancing over the various faces until they land on a man in a suit towards the back of the bar.

“I see it. I could probably speed it out there before anyone sees me.”

“Barry, how crowded is the bar?”

“ … Fairly. But I’m fast. I could probably grab it, run it to the Arrowcave and get back before anyone notices.”

“Barry.”

“It’ll be fine; I’m a lot better about doing it unnoticed. Just give me a sec to grab it, and I’ll be in and out.”

“Barry, wait!”

Barry doesn’t wait. Barry instead, zips through the crowded room, watching as everything slows down to compensate for the speed he’s going. He lithely dips around the various patrons, slipping into spaces that are thin enough for him to fit through without other people noticing and making his way to the booth.

Just as he starts to get close, the man’s wash flashes a strange blue light. Suddenly, he flies backward, almost as though he’s collided with an invisible wall and sent sprawling back onto the floor. Several others fall from the concussive force, but Barry doesn’t let himself stay idle long. Instead, he pushes up and darts out of the bar, coming to a stop a few buildings down, out of view of everyone else.

“Okay, that didn’t exactly go according to plan.”

There’s a long, judgmental silence, before Oliver sighs. “Are you ready to do this my way now?”

Barry doesn’t bother to dignify that with a response. Instead, he sighs and shakes his head.

“Next time? Iris quarterbacks.”

Poor Barry. What was that, some kind of forcefield? He's the fastest man alive and still gets whumped.

Lol. Love it. Barry isn't totally impervious after all.
