[#066] A Wet Walk (Original)

Theme Prompt: #066 - Gathering Clouds
Title: A Wet Walk
Fandom: Original
Rating/Warnings: G
Bonus: Yes.
Word Count: 200
Summary: A spot of bad luck; a spot of rain.

'These dense skies
do not necessarily bode rain,' she thought.
For months they had had no sun.
Of those blending, overcast days
This was yet another one.

She took a walk
with her Newfoundland
His leash in one hand
leaving free the other.
'Yes,' she thought, 'this is yet another.'

The clouds scurried
separated and clumped again.
'No,' she thought, 'this doesn't bode rain.'
For weeks there had been no rain.
That morning's forecast didn't tell of rain.

The clouds skittered
and gathered for Mass
and they poured, alas.
She hurried home with the Newfoundland
His sloppy great paws
splashing all the puddles.
When warm and dry, he was called Cuddles.

Thunderstruck- they'd had no sun for months-
She followed the rainbow home.
She knew by the flickering window
that her sister had laid a fire.
The Newfoundland shook himself, drenching her again.
She hailed her sister. 'I never thought it would rain!'
After changing, she was downstairs again.

Hot food, handwarming mugs. The Newfoundland
was a boulder by the fire. She dried her hair
and called him Cuddles.
Her sister called him Bear.
On the hearthrug with drawn-up knees-
'Let there be sun tomorrow, please.'
peaked: CINDY. (Default)

This was incredibly descriptive! I really enjoy the repetition of "it does not bode well".

My favourite lines in particular:
The clouds scurried
separated and clumped again.

His sloppy great paws
splashing all the puddles.

Excellent work!
