Challenge 082: COUNTDOWN

Five…four…three…two…one… Is the countdown to something exciting, or terrifying? Are the characters looking forward to whatever is about to happen, or were they hoping/fighting to stop it? It could be a literal countdown, or just an awareness that time is passing and a particular event is rapidly approaching. Maybe it’s New Year’s Eve, or a spaceship launch, or a week before the day the protagonist must confront their nemesis once and for all. Write a story about a countdown. BONUS GOAL: “Are you nervous?” If your story includes this line, it will earn an extra point to be tallied in voting!
