[#087] My Mind is a Foreign Land (Teen Wolf)

Theme Prompt: #087 - Leadership
Title: My Mind Feels Like a Foreign Land
Fandom: Teen Wolf
Rating/Warnings: PG | SPOILERS for the end of Season 6, but AU
Bonus: Yes.
Word Count: 645
Summary: Allison frets over the group’s latest loss.
Notes: I’m just going to stick to my AU where Allison and Issac ran off to Europe after Season 3.

“I never expected this.”

“Yes, you did.”

Allison turns to face Isaac, watching his face as she tries to struggle with the weight of what has just happened. They tried to run up against Monroe’s people, but they were better trained than she thought. They saw them coming, and they were better prepared, and people got hurt. She knows that his statement isn’t an accusation, but it feels like one all the same.

Isaac meets the betrayal in her eyes before tipping his head to the side, giving her a flat look in return. “You’re not Scott, Allison. You’re not the person people look to for hopeful platitudes. You knew the angles, and you knew the risks.”

Allison grits her teeth, her hands extending out in front of her, curling into fists as she speaks. “Then what does it say about me? That I saw the risk and sent them in there anyway?”

“That you thought it was a risk worth taking.” His voice turns gentle as he gets up, placing his hands on her arms. “That you thought there was something we could gain and that it was worth the cost.”

“But did we? Gain anything?” Allison looks up at him, pleading with him to tell her that they did. That they learned something worth the effort expelled and the lives lost. Isaac doesn’t seem to have an answer for that right away. He waits, watches her, sees if she can connect the dots herself, and she knows why.

Isaac is the beta. The second in command. He isn’t here to tell her what the big picture is. He’s here to follow where she leads. And part of her knows that if she asked him to go with her to the end of the earth, he would do it.

Allison doesn’t like knowing that someday she might have to. That he might be the chessboard piece she may have to sacrifice and that he would let her because he believes in the plan. He believes in her.

“We know that they’re more prepared than we originally thought.” Her voice is shaky as she starts, recounting the new information they’ve learned. “They’re funneling people in here for some reason. If they’re planning to target somewhere, it’s nearby, and it’s going to happen soon.”

“Why soon?”

“If you’re still trying to figure out where you want to hit, you wouldn’t want to put that many people here. A few scouts maybe, but not a whole squad.” Allison nods, certainty crossing her features. “She’s making a move soon. We need to change the plan.”

“We do. But there’s now one downside.” Isaac sighs as he leans back against the counter behind him again. “Now she knows we know where she is. We’re going to need a new plan.”

She nods, running a hand through her hair. “We need to put a new piece on the board.”

Isaac raises an eyebrow curiously. “Did you have someone specific in mind?”

“Maybe,” Allison considers carefully. “I have to think about it more. Consider the risks, but I’ve heard some rumors that we might be able to exploit if we play our cards right.”

Isaac nods before pulling her in closer. “We’ll figure it out. I know we may have lost the battle, but we have yet to lose the war.”

“I know.” Allison takes a deep breath as she settles into him, letting her head rest against his shoulder. She doesn’t know how she would have gotten this far without him. She wraps her arms around his waist and closes her eyes. “Thank you. For reminding me of the bigger picture.”

“Always,” Isaac smiles, tipping her chin up to look at him. “I’ll follow you wherever you ask me to go. You know that, right?”

“I do,” she nods.

Hopefully, they won’t reach a point where things go too far.

Leadership isn't an easy thing, Alison will have a lot of hard choices to make and she won't always make the right decisions. She needs good people to advise her, and she's got one in Isaac.

The dynamic between them is portrayed nicely! Isaac is devoted and Allison is thankful, happy for his devotion. Muy bueno 👍

Awesome. How they interact with each other here is beautiful.

I’m kind of sad I don’t know the fandom.
