Summary: Jiang Cheng's new home is invaded by his brother in the middle of the night. They promptly get snowed in together.

“This can’t be happening,” Jiang Cheng groaned, staring out the window.

Or rather, he stared at the snow that completely covered the window. He went to the door and opened it. Snow from the top of the doorway to the bottom. He pulled an umbrella from the stand near the door and poked it into the drift. The umbrella did not poke through to sunlight, it sank into the snow up to the handle. This wasn’t just a wind blown drift against the door, it was a solid layer of snow seven feet deep.

“Fuck,” he said, putting the umbrella back in the stand and closing the door. “Fuck, fuck, fuck.”

“What’s wrong?” Wei Wuxian asked, startling Jiang Cheng.

The younger man whirled around, glaring. “We’re snowed in. I’m stuck here with you.”

That earned him a wounded look. “What did I do?”

“You broke into my house after I told you to fuck off and now I’m stuck dealing with your noise, your mess, and your complete inability to not be a nuisance,” Jiang Cheng shouted. “I moved specifically to get away from you and everyone else. I wanted one fucking thing for myself and that lasted less than a month.”

Wei Wuxian stared with a stunned expression on his face. Which only pissed Jiang Cheng off more. Wei Wuxian had thought it hilariously fun to break into Jiang Cheng’s house last night and scare him by turning the tv on full blast.

Jiang Cheng had come out of his bedroom swinging a baseball bat that nearly took Wei Wuxian’s head off his shoulders. It had been a great game until the jerk realized that Jiang Cheng was actually, genuinely angry. Then he’d had the gall to make himself a bed on the couch and pout about it.

“I didn’t realize you felt that way,” Wei Wuxian muttered, looking lost.

That only pissed Jiang Cheng off even more.

“No shit. Because that would require listening to someone else instead of doing all the talking yourself,” Jiang Cheng shouted, stomping back into his bedroom and slamming the door.

He threw himself on to his bed and pulled up the weather report on his phone. It was expected to snow for the next several days. The whole city was snowed in. Jiang Cheng tossed his phone to the side in a fit of anger. It landed on a pile of clean, folded laundry. He left it there.

What was the point of moving out while everyone else was gone and disappearing if his stupid brother was just going to track him down and break into his house?

“Jiang Cheng!” Wei Wuxian’s voice broke through his thoughts as he pounded on the bedroom door. “Jiang Cheng!”

“Fuck off!” Jiang Cheng shouted, throwing a pillow at the door. “For fuck’s sake, Wei Wuxian, can’t you go five seconds without being a fucking asshole?”

“I just thought you’d want to know there’s someone at the door,” Wei Wuxian shouted back and kicking the door, judging by the thunk.

Jiang Cheng threw himself off the bed and stomped out of the bedroom. He brushed past Wei Wuxian and threw open his front door, intending to show Wei Wuxian the mountain of fucking snow.

But instead, a bear-like man bundled in several layers stood there, a shovel in one hand. Jiang Cheng’s jaw dropped.

“Mingjue-ge?”

The big man pulled up a pair of mirrored goggles and pulled down the scarf covering his face. Jiang Cheng’s neighbor peered at him.

“I heard a lot of screaming last night and then more this morning,” Nie Mingjue said. “I thought I’d come see if you were okay.”

Jiang Cheng’s mouth snapped shut. He turned and glared at Wei Wuxian, who peeked into the foyer from the living room.

“My asshole brother thought it would be a smart idea to break into my house and scare me, last night,” he told Nie Mingjue, giving him an embarrassed grimace. “I’m sorry I disturbed you.”

Nie Mingjue glared over his shoulder at Wei Wuxian. “That was rude.”

“That’s Wei Wuxian,” Jiang Cheng retorted. “As long as he thinks it’s funny, that’s all that matters.”

“I can hear you, you know,” Wei Wuxian complained. “Shouldn’t you be saying nice things about me?”

“If there was anything nice to say, I’d say it,” Jiang Cheng turned and snapped the words out.

Wei Wuxian sniffed in mock-disdain. “Keep it up, Chengcheng, and you’ll never get a man. You’ll be alone and bitter forever.”

Jiang Cheng saw red. He took one step forward, only to be jerked to a halt as a large hand came down on his shoulder.

“I guess that’s that, then,” Nie Mingjue grumbled. “If I leave you two here alone, you’ll kill each other. You’re both coming over to my place.”

“This is my house,” Jiang Cheng protested, so incredibly frustrated. “You can’t make me leave.”

Nie Mingjue nodded. “Well, are you going to throw your brother out in the cold?”

“No,” Jiang Cheng admitted.

“Then you’re both coming with me. Come on. Huaisang is making cocoa and roasting marshmallows over the fireplace.”

“You go ahead, Jiang Cheng, I’ll just stay here.”

“Oh fuck no. I wouldn’t trust you with a cardboard box let alone my house, you asshole,” Jiang Cheng walked up and grabbed Wei Wuxian by the ear. “If I have to go, you do too. Get your fucking shoes on.”

Wei Wuxian yelped, “Jiang Cheng! This is no way to treat your brother!”

“Too bad you couldn’t take the fucking hint sooner!” Jiang Cheng shot back, dragging him to the door.

“Enough,” Nie Mingjue took Wei Wuxian’s arm. “I’ll get him next door,” he told Jiang Cheng. “You come when you’ve got your house ready.”

Jiang Cheng nodded. He tried to smile his gratitude. Nie Mingjue seemed to know, giving him a nod and marching Wei Wuxian out of the house.

Jiang Cheng took a deep breath. He could do this, he could control his anger.
