Challenge 124: BEST FRIENDS FOREVER

A lot of stories focus primarily on the characters’ romantic relationships, which isn’t a bad thing – those can certainly make up a huge part of a character’s emotional arc. But friendship can be just as important, and doesn’t always get as much focus! Do your characters have best friends? Maybe it’s someone they met in kindergarten (or their equivalent) and they’ve been friends forever, or maybe they met as adults. Maybe they knew they’d be friends from the moment they saw each other, or maybe they immediately hated each other and took a while to realize that actually, they were friends. Do they work together? Go on adventures together? Exchange letters about their separate adventures? Write a story about best friends. BONUS GOAL: “You’re never going to guess what happened today.” If your submission includes this line, it will earn an extra point to be tallied in voting!
