[#127] For Science Strawberry Infused Kisses (Lucifer TV)

Theme Prompt:
Title:Strawberry Infused Kisses
Fandom: Lucifer (TV)
Rating/Warnings: T
Bonus: Yes
Word Count: 767
Summary: (Optional)

Ella Lopez had agreed for a quick excursion after investigating a crime scene and she thought that Lucifer meant that they would stop to grab a quick bite to eat or to buy some groceries. Or even just to go for a drive around the block. There wasn’t much to do after it got dark aside from going back to Lux.

Yet, instead, imagine her surprise when he’d driven her to the shady, more run down part of Los Angeles. It was almost like he wanted to find another crime scene or for them to be a part of one. This was a place where no one sane would walk alone at night.

“Lucifer. Are you sure about this? You don’t want to go to Wendy’s?” Ella questioned, eyeing the street and the mounds of rubbish haphazardly placed on it.

Ella was glad that this place was not a crime scene. Having to go through it all would have been…well…hell. Though the place looked like it would be the home of many criminals.

“Ella. Everything is okay. I know exactly what I am doing. I’m fulfilling someone’s desire for them.”

“If you say so,” Ella replied, as she had to side step a puddle of something which was most definitely not water, though, her eyes caught on the reflection of her t-shirt and she couldn’t help but smile at the funny quote which was there.

At least there was one thing which wasn’t monochromatic in that place.

Ella jumped and clutched onto Lucifer’s arm when he spoke, his voice spooking her, “Ah. There you are. I’ll take everything if you’d please.”

When Ella got control of herself her eyes widened as she saw what Lucifer had just agreed to buy.

“A. Whole. Cart. Of. Fireworks. Are you crazy?” Ella all but shouted, finally withdrawing her arm from Lucifer’s. “We don’t need those.”

“They’re not for us,” Lucifer said, as he gingerly picked one up and in doing so gave Ella another fright and she braced for it to randomly go off as soon as he touched it.

But nothing happened.

“Give me one good reason why I should let you buy a cart full of fireworks,” Ella said, knowing full well the dangers of them, what with them being explosives and all. She handled a lot of dangerous substances in her time and she was not so sure that buying fireworks off a vendor in the street was safe or legal.

And she worked for the police department. Lucifer had better give a good reason for her to even start thinking about allowing him to purchase them.

“Because I am the devil and angering the devil would be a very bad thing indeed,” Lucifer told her.

“Yes, yes, I know,” Ella knew that he was a method actor and that he would masquerade around as the devil for as long as need be, but what did that have to do with fireworks? “I’ll bite. What does the devil need with fireworks?”

“Oh. Someone made a deal with the devil and I promised that I’d get them to them on time,” Lucifer told her as they stood side by side contemplating the cart of fireworks.

Ella lightly punched him on the arm, “Good one. Like anyone would make a deal with the devil. Only the desperate would do that. I’d fear the consequences of any deal like that…”

“I assure you they do it all the time. More than you’d ever think,” Lucifer said, winking at her. Then Ella watched him turn to the vendor, “I’ll take them all.”

He’d gone and done it and then he was handing over the cash even as she was asking, “What did you really need the fireworks for Lucifer? And don’t you dare tell me it’s for science.”

“You’ll see,” Lucifer told her as he finished paying.

“I suppose we’ll take the cart too,” Ella said after Lucifer started trying to pick them all up in his arms. This can hardly be safe, Ella thought.

-------------------------------------------------

The result was spectacular, so much more epic than she would have thought from a seemingly unreliable person with a cart in the shady part of town.

Lucifer had given a man the fireworks and he’d been so happy, almost breaking down weeping in front of Lucifer when Lucifer told him to just be happy and live life to the fullest in exchange for them. Something sinister was what the man had been expecting to pay to the devil.

Lucifer had practically gotten the fireworks for him for no reason at all other than his altruism.

Nicely written. Now, what's Lucifer going to do with the fireworks...
