[#133] STORIES YOU TOLD YOURSELF (STAR WARS)
Theme Prompt: #133 - Storytelling
Title: Stories you told yourself
Fandom: Star Wars
Ratings / Warnings: PG
Bonus: No
Word Count: 168
Summary: The stories Luke told himself about his absent father were better than the reality, in a way.
Luke grew up on the harsh, desert world of Tatooine with his uncle and aunt. Life was tough and there was little time for stories or daydreams. Whenever he asked about his father, Uncle Owen curtly told him he was 'a navigator on a spice freighter'.
So Luke tried to tell himself stories about his absent father that could be real, perhaps. He was tall, quick to laugh and always ready for adventure rather than staying on one miserable planet until he too became harsh with any softness having fled. Perhaps he had blond hair too?
Then Luke was told more about his father by that old Ben Kenobi, on the brink of his life changing forever. He had been a Jedi and had been struck down because of it. The stories in his head altered - his father was a Jedi, maybe still blond, laughing and ready for for adventure until the day he died.
He kept telling himself those stories, until the time they became nightmares.
