[#141] Drawing Up Plans (Transformers Generation One)
Theme Prompt: Inspiration
Title: Drawing Up Plans
Fandom: Transformers Generation One
Rating/Warnings: No Warnings Apply
Bonus: No
Word Count: 431 words
Summary: Hook and Scrapper discuss architecture.
Hook studied the plans for a moment, dissatisfaction pinching the lines of his face. "These plans are terrible."
Scrapper was used to this. What he meant was that some part of it wasn't quite fitting with the rest. Hook had gotten better at phrasing his critiques, sure, but that didn't mean he was good at it. Not by a long shot. At least he'd moved past just calling the creator stupid; that had always gotten under Scavenger's skin, though Scrapper hardly cared that much. He knew his own worth.
The best way to get to what Hook meant was to let him continue, so Scrapper raised an optical ridge, fixing him with a flat look. "Oh?"
"I mean, the entire vision of this is just... cluttered," Hook continued, shaking his head. "What were you going for, the visual language of a garbage spill?"
Scrapper narrowed his optical band. "I'm aiming for the Kaonite look. You know, taking some inspiration from Megatron's origins?"
"You didn't get it," Hook said, sniffing derisively. "It's uninspired. Lazy. Why even bother with these decorative parts, here?" He tapped the datapad, gesturing to a pair of folded metal points on the top of one corner of the building. "They look utterly hideous and add nothing."
"That's functional. It's an analogue venting system."
"It's functionally stupid, because we can just install fans. And it's ugly."
Alright. Fair enough. But they were iconic features of Kaonite structure. "We're keeping them, regardless. What else, Hook?"
"This decorative bit here is also ridiculous. I've seen Kaon. They don't use molding. It doesn't belong and it looks ridiculous."
"Sure," Scrapper said. That was useful. "Still hideous?"
Hook considered the plans some more. "You said you were inspired?"
"I was."
"Doesn't look it. This is phoned in. Your angles are all forty-five degrees, when proper Kaonite building was either sixty or thirty."
"I don't typically work in this style."
Hook sniffed. "Obviously. It's acceptable without the molding, if you adjust these angles."
Scrapper took the datapad back, and made a couple quick adjustments. "Look now."
Hook took the pad back, glancing over it critically. "Better. Still awful, but better. Why are these windows..."
Scrapper leaned back in his seat, listening. The discussion would be over soon, if all he had to criticize was placement. One day Hook would learn to just state what it was about a design he did and didn't like, and at that point Scrapper would allow him to discuss these things with the rest of the team, but until then, Scrapper would work with him where he was.

Is it worse or better to say that Scrapper is used to this, lol? Hook just has a very abrasive communication style.
