[#142] Mutual Thorn In The Optic (Transformers Cartoon G1)

Theme Prompt: #142 Teamwork
Title: Mutual Thorn In The Optic
Fandom: Transformers Cartoon G1
Rating/Warnings: G
Bonus: Yes
Word Count: 544
Summary: Starscream teams up with the Autobots against Megatron

AN: Decided in the last minute to set in in the universe of my long story I'm working on. Therefore you will be faced with a few hints at BumbleScream. Otherwise nothing changed.
[This month is really not my month so far, therefore this was really the best I could come up with ^^;]

Optimus couldn’t believe that he had agreed to this plan. The way Starscream had explained it, it appeared that it could lead to the desired result. But it was Starscream so there had to be a hook on that thing.
For a few astro-seconds Optimus glanced down at his hand, which was shaking Starscream’s in agreement: two shades of blue, one light and the other a tad darker, were sealing the fate of their mutual thorn in their optics.

“That wasn’t easy right, Prime?” Starscream asked him with a smirk on his face. Deep inside he knew that if the plan would be a failure he would hate himself for teaming up with the Autobot leader but somehow he was convinced that with him by his side they would manage to get rid of Megatron.
What would comes next was obvious, but he would think about dealing with that once he would get the chance to celebrate the long awaited victory over Megatron.

Optimus knew that once they would archive their temporary goal, Starscream would turn against the Autobots and he knew that Starscream knew, that he would turn against him as well. There was no need for any kind of alliance and it would be immature to think, that once Starscream would be leader of the Decepticons he would even think about any peace talks.

“Isn’t my first time working with someone who I know will turn against me”, Optimus answered before he let go of Starscream’s hand.

Bumblebee tried not to look to often to Starscream who was busy explaining to Wheeljack, how the weapon worked. It was still a confusing sign to see Starscream inside the Ark, walking freely and talking with the other Autobots, even if it was only the bare necessaries.

A couple of times their optics had met and Starscream had even flashed a smile at him, when he had been certain no one was paying any attention to them.
They hadn’t spent much time with each other but they had a few moment for themselves during the last couple of Earth-days.

While Bumblebee turned his attention towards Ironhide and Cliffjumper, was still listen with one audio sensor to what Starscream was saying, simply because he had missed his voice.

“It’s not like it’s rocket science.” Wheeljack remarked, while he tried to memorize the combination of keys he had to type in order to activate the weapon. “That would be easy, but this is slowly overheating my processor.”
“It’s not that complicated.” Starscream laughed.

Bumblebee couldn’t resit and turn his head towards Starscream, luckily he was not the only one, since no one would have expected to hear the seeker laughing as if he was among Cons who he felt at ease with. In the back of his head Bumblebee wondered, if now the others would see that it was possible to get along with a Decepticon and that in the end they were just like them.
But he knew too well that at the end of the day the truth was, that all Autobots hoped that they would soon face Megatron and the other Decepticons, just to see Starscream’s plan fail and they could return to a life inside the Ark with the seeker being among them.

It's no fun when the words don't want to come. Hopefully it will get easier again.

I have a few that didn't work and which I might have another try at writing sometime. Some that I didn't like improved immensely when I expanded the idea a bit. Others I'm just stuck on and can't seem to fix.
