[#143] The one about the penguin (Harry Potter)

Theme Prompt: Nightmare
Title: The one about the penguin
Fandom: Harry Potter
Rating: G
Bonus: Yes (line is split up, but it's there)
Word Count: 500
Summary: Teddy has a nightmare.

“Finally!” Harry exclaims, as he climbs into bed. He scoots over to move closer to Draco, and when Draco wraps an arm around his waist before kissing his neck, he sighs, “I’ve missed this.”
Draco looks up at him, a curious look on his face. Because since Draco moved in the other month, they have shared a bed every night. But with work, and raising a toddler, they are exhausted by the time they go to bed, and after kissing each other goodnight, they usually pass out from exhaustion.
Tonight they are both still full of energy though, and it’s obvious from the way they can’t keep their hands off each other, that even though there was a little break from intimacy, the spark is definitely still there.
Harry pushes Draco onto his back, and he rolls on top of him - pinning his hands down on the bed. But just as he is about to kiss him, he hears Teddy crying out.
“I’ll go,” Draco sighs, and after giving Harry a quick kiss, he rushes over to Teddy’s room.
“Did you have another nightmare?” he asks, as he kneels down by the bed, and he reaches out to brush his hand through the little boy’s hair.
Teddy nods, his face flushed and his eyes filled with tears.
“It’s not real,” Draco tries to assure him, even though trying to explain this to him never made a difference in the past. “It was just a dream.”
Teddy’s lip starts to quiver, and when Draco pulls him into his arms, he starts sobbing. Draco can tell that this was a bad one, and that Teddy won’t be able to go to sleep after this.
“Do you want to stay with us tonight?” he offers, and Teddy nods. So Draco carries him out of bed - Teddy wrapping his arms tightly around his neck.
When Harry hears Draco come back, he’s expecting him to be by himself. But when he steps into the room, carrying little Teddy, Harry quickly readjusts the t-shirt that he was expecting to come off as soon as Draco returned. It’s obvious that whatever was about to happen will have to wait though, because as soon as Draco sets Teddy down, he crawls underneath the covers, making himself comfortable to sleep in between them.
Draco gets back into bed, shooting Harry an apologetic smile. But Harry doesn’t mind. Not at all. It warms his heart when Teddy cuddles up to Draco, his nightmare seemingly already forgotten about.
“I want a story!” Teddy grins, and from his excitement, Harry can tell that he is not going to go to sleep anytime soon.
“A story?” Draco asks. “The one about the penguin that hated the cold?”
It’s Teddy’s favourite, and he flashes Harry an excited smile, clapping his hands, before turning back to Draco.
Draco winks at Harry, as he puts on his story-time voice to tell Teddy the story for the hundredth time. “Once upon a time there was a penguin…”

Reminds me of the times when I had nightmares as kid and my mom used to comfort me with my favorite stories (usually some fairy tale).
