Challenge 145: TEMPTATION

Have you ever wanted to do something you shouldn’t? It’s safe to say that every human has experienced some kind of temptation, even if only for small things like reading one more chapter before bed. The definition of “bad things” varies wildly across cultures, religions, and individuals, but pretty much everyone agrees that there are some things you probably shouldn’t do – and pretty much everyone has also wanted to do one of those things. How you respond to temptation can demonstrate a lot about your character. Do you resist the temptation, or give in to it? Pretend it isn’t happening, or acknowledge it even if you don’t do the thing? Not everyone is tempted by the same things; some people might be drawn to money and power, others to peace and safety, and still others to one more cup of coffee and really good book. What are your characters’ temptations, and how do they handle them? Write a story about temptation. BONUS GOAL: Golden Glow If your submission features gold (the metal or the color), it will earn an extra point to be tallied in voting!
