Summary: Megatron becomes the leader of an infamous country but something is at odds
AN: Inspired by the song 'King For A Day' by Battle Beast [x]. End is up to your own interpretations
"Don't say I'm irritable. It really—it really irritates me." Megatron looked at Starscream with an expression which matched the tone of his voice.
“You’ve underestimated how easily these people bow to someone who’s as powerful as you, right?” Starscream asked Megatron, not even trying to keep the mocking undertone out of his voice. Just as expected this fueled Megatron’s anger.
“Silence …” but he refrained from adding anything, instead he just glared at Starscream out half-closed optics.
“Then why did you just threw your crown into the corner of the room?” Starscream asked Megatron with a crooked smile, while he went to said corner and picked up the crown. A simple golden crown without any gemstones but it was still a crown. Would this soon be his crown?
Megatron asked himself why he couldn’t bask in the glory of this triumphant moment? He had known beforehand that this small country was prone to chose destructive forces as rulers but it was a win nonetheless and hopefully one of many that would follow in the future.
Starscream smirked at Megatron, knowing that once the news would reach Autobot headquarter Megatron would have to proof that he was more than just a well-known criminal from a far away planet.
Autobots and Decepticons alike had become known all across Earth and humanity watched their actions. It had advantages but the list of disadvantages was longer, at least this was Starscream’s opinion.
“Do you fear bad publicity?” Starscream really had the audacity to ask him such a question. Megatron was about to answer him, that every publicity was fine with him and that he didn’t cared about the broad opinion of the world but deep inside he knew that then he would tell Starscream a lie. Not that he had a problem with lying into the face of his second in command.
Megatron knew that he was just disappointed that his designation hadn’t been a bit more spectacular. After all he was not some measly human but Megatron, leader of the Decepticon. His ego was hurt and part of him wanted to cause havoc in this country, which now belonged to him.
Now that would be bad publicity or rather good publicity for him, showing that he wasn’t joking when he was saying that one day he would try to make Earth his and that he didn’t cared about the lives of humans.
Starscream observed Megatron, noticing how he was gazing at the crown in Starscream’s hand. “I deserve to be treated with more respect from my people. Where is their enthusiasm about having a leader, who will be able to lead their pathetic country to glory? Ungrateful fleshlings.”
With a swift movement he yanked the crown out of Starscream’s hand. His expression changes and while he placed the crown on his head Megatron knows exactly what could lift his mood, at least temporary.
“Meet me in private, Starscream.” Now it was Megatron’s turn to smirk, before he continued. “We need to talk about politics.”
