[#141] It's Some Kind of Secret Plot (Wynonna Earp)
Theme Prompt: #141 - Inspiration
Title: It’s Some Kind of Secret Plot
Fandom: Wynonna Earp
Rating/Warnings: PG-13
Bonus: Yes.
Word Count: 710
Summary: Wynonna has an idea to solve their current demon problem.
“I have a completely brilliant plan.”
Waverly and Jeremy turn their heads towards Wynonna as she enters the room, one hand triumphant in the air. Waverly hesitates, almost not wanting to ask. It’s not that Wynonna can’t come up with a good plan occasionally, but she’s better at improvising on the fly, rather than building the plan.
“You do?” She hopes that sounds encouraging, not doubtful, but if it’s the latter, Wynonna seems high enough on her own inspiration that she doesn’t notice.
“I was inspired.” Wynonna hops over the desk at the front of the bullpen, flashing both of her friends a grin. “We rob a bank.”
“…Robbing a bank?” Waverly frowns.
“That’s a terrible plan.” Jeremy seems happy to disappoint Wynonna, apparently not needing to hear more than “robbing a bank” to know that it’s terrible. “What does robbing a bank have to do with this demon?”
“Aside from the fact that I’ve always wanted to pull it off?”
“Yes, Wynonna. Aside from that.”
“Well, we know that the demon’s big, bad secret artifact is somewhere in that vault, right? And that might be the key to his weakness?” She shrugs. “So we need to get our hands on the artifact ourselves.”
“Yes. That is the problem we’re currently trying to solve.”
“Soooo, why don’t we just steal it? The bank is in Purgatory, which means security is probably lax.”
“And also means you’ll probably be recognized the minute you walk in the door,” Waverly points out. “You’re not exactly low profile.”
“Fair. Which is why I’m the distraction while one of you two sneaks into the back and breaks into the vault. You know how to crack a safe, right Jer?”
“I absolutely do not know how to crack a safe,” Jeremy points out. “And even if I did, that doesn’t change the fact that this is a terrible plan.”
Waverly nods. “Sorry, sis. Getting arrested by my wife isn’t exactly on my to-do list. At least, not if it’s not pre-planned shenanigans with a safe word.”
Wynonna looks at her sister. “First, ew.” Waverly smirks, and Wynonna rolls her eyes before continuing. “Second, yeah, I know it's not a perfect plan right from jump. That’s why I took it to you guys to help me … firm it up a little. Do either of you have a better idea?”
Both of them fall silent, unsure of how to proceed. Jeremy shakes his head. “I’m sorry, Wynonna. It’s not that I don’t believe in you, it’s just that we don’t have the skills necessary to pull it off.”
Suddenly, Waverly has a thought. “Maybe we do, actually. How do you rob a bank without actually robbing a bank?”
Wynonna and Jeremy both blink on her. “As much as I appreciate the support, I think you lost me, baby girl.”
“What if we don’t rob the bank? We just need to make the demon think we’re going to rob the bank.” Waverly turns to Jeremy. “There’s probably a safe cracker at Black Badge, right? Or someone that we can call in as a safe cracker?”
“I mean … probably?”
“We make moves. Put the pieces in place that we could rob the bank. Lay down just enough heat that the demon thinks he knows what we’re after, so that he takes it out of the bank.”
“Then we don’t have to rob a bank, we just have to rob a demon!” Wynonna grins. “See? This is why I pay you the big bucks.”
Waverly snorts. “And what qualifies as the big bucks, exactly?”
“My unconditional love and devotion.” Wynonna smiles sweetly, before turning back to Jeremy. “Is that a less terrible plan?”
Jeremy takes a deep breath. “It definitely seems more workable.”
“Great,” Wynonna grins. “You make a call for the safecracker. I’ll start putting out feelers of my own and we’ll get this fake show on the road.” Wynonna saunters out of the room and Waverly turns back to Jeremy with a sigh.
“Why do I have a feeling that this is going to be harder than it sounds?”
“Probably because it usually is,” Jeremy smirks before turning to head back to his desk. “But it’s the best we got, so we’re going to do it, anyway.”
