Summary: Anthropomorphic Radiation thinks about the question of guilt

AN: A little something I wrote in preparation for my summer-project. I missed it to write this little guy (Radiation is a small, curious guy in my head who wears glasses - a small nerdy looking professor if you want)
Nothing here reflects my own opinions.

“We’ve heard that before.”
“Tell us something you haven’t said for the thousands time.”
“Don’t try to justify what you’ve worked on.”
“You’ve known what would happen once your work was done.”

These are just a few things the world keeps saying to you. Countless journalists around the world have written them down as well.
It’s the opinion of the wide mass, the small-minded people who fail to understand that this was a project which had to be carried out because of the state the world was in. If it wouldn’t have been you and your team, then it would have been someone else. A different country who would have changed the outcome of the war in a different way. They could have prolonged the war, they could have erased more lives from the surface of planet Earth.

Radiation adjusted his glasses as he sat on the edge of the desk, feet dangling in the air. His shiny polished shoes were reflecting the light from the lamp.
He let his eyes wander over the man who stood with his back turned to him at the window.

Sometimes I wish I could read your thoughts. You’re a troubled soul. It’s obvious from your composure and the look in your eyes. You should remember: if not you, then it would be someone else who would be troubled from what he had helped creating.

The man turned around and Radiation caught his look. He sighed as he noticed how old the man suddenly looked. Worry could cause a human to age faster.

I understand the burden you’re carrying on your shoulders. I am the burden – your burden and we are both guilty. But unlike you, I have no reason to feel guilty. It’s my nature, that’s who I am. I didn’t chose to a threat if not handled with care
.

Radiation got up, adjusted his suite and ran a hand through his short azure-blue hair. In moments like this, he wished that he would be able to communicate with him, giving him the support he was in need of. He himself was of a curious nature but since he could be a threat to life he had to be explore the world in a different form which allowed him to be literally everywhere while he remained where he was.

But what would I say? How to start a conversation like this?

He walked over the surface of the desk, his footsteps only being audible to himself.
