Word Count: 1000
Summary: Cade thinks that it's about time he and Optimus kiss for the first time
Cade admired the red and blue truck in front of him. He was always a sign to behold but whenever he had washed him, it seemed to him as if Optimus’ paint-job was shining a tad brighter. It was some illusion which was only in his head, that was something Cade knew for sure.
“Feeling refreshed big guy?” Cade laughed, as he watched Optimus transform. He would never not be fascinated from this process, no matter how often he had seen it.
“Nothing goes over a wash with the extra portion of love”, Optimus winked at Cade and added a little laugh. Cade looked into Optimus’ bright blue optics. For the longest time Cade had tried to figure out what shade of blue his optics actually were. He hadn’t found a satisfying answer, maybe it was because he wasn’t an artist but an inventor.
Cade felt caught, as always when Optimus pointed out that there was mutual attraction between them. He scold himself for acting as if that was the first time he was in love with someone. But he had been alone for many years and he had fallen in love with Optimus faster than he had imaged it would happen. From the first times he had noticed that it might be more than friendship what he was was feeling for him, from the moment when it had dawned on him that he was loving him and spending many sleepless nights imaging that Optimus was feeling the same and they would confess their love for each other.
So far none of them had initiated their first kiss. Cade had wondered if that wasn’t as common among Cybertronians compared to humans to kiss their loved ones. What if Optimus was just like him and was kinda unsure how it should work or how Cade would feel about it in the end.
Even it was kinda a mystery Cade wanted to solve it and find out what it would be to kiss his beloved Cybertronian. He tried to ignore the tiny voice in his head which whispered to him, that his last kiss had been a long time ago and that he would certainly be clumsy.
‘I can’t kiss him like I would kiss a human.’ Cade tired to silence the voice in his head, but it was a fruitless attempt. Even he reminded himself of their size-difference all Cade could image was a kiss as if they would be the same size.
A couple of days later they spend an evening together in the barn. Cade had worked on an invention and Optimus had assisted him or admired him, unable to explain the happiness he felt since he had found love on Earth.
Optimus thought to himself, that it was about time that they should have their first kiss. There had been moments when he had sensed that Cade wanted the same, he had given him these looks, which were begging him to kiss him.
Cade leaned against Optimus’ leg, flipping through a magazine. It seemed that suddenly the whole celebrity world was loving and kissing each other. Soon it would be Valentines Day, therefore the magazine was also flooded with adds from various flowers shops.
“Ahh, the most famous love poem on Earth.” Cade remarked as he read the modern version of the most cited poem. He turned around, showing Optimus the double-sited ad of the most famous flower shop in the US. The two flowers named in the poem were arranged as intertwined hearts. The poem was written in elegant letters in the middle of the hearts.
“Roses Are Red, Violets Are Blue. Sugar is sweet, And so are you.”
While Cade recited the poem, he noticed the coincidence in Optimus’ paint-job.
“Short and sweet. Just like you.” Optimus replied.
“You’re red and blue as well, so it’s only fitting that you’re sweet.” On any other day Cade would have felt stupid for even thinking what he had just dared to speak out, but didn’t lead being in love to saying silly things?
“Do you have a similar poem on Cybertron?” Cade asked curiously as kept eye-optic contact with Optimus, who thought about his question for a couple of seconds.
“It may not be as romantic as your love poem but it implies the depth of the feelings for the other.”
He spoke some words in Cybertronian. Even Cade didn’t understood a single word he could sense the importance of the words from how Optimus had pronounced them.
“It means something like ‘Without you I can’t be’, very simple translated.” Optimus remarked.
For the moment that was a satisfying answer for Cade and Optimus didn’t wanted to destroy the tender moment between them with explanations of how Cybertronians functioned. That was something for a different day.
He held out his servo, inviting Cade with a look to sit down so he could lift his servo up to his face. Cade followed Optimus’ silent invitation, gently leaning back against his digits. He felt save and secure and was anticipating the moment when he could caress Optimus’ face-plate.
For a few seconds Cade looked at his hand, which was tiny as it was stroking over Optimus’ cheek-plate. For a split-second he thought that his was of Thumbelina had seen the world.
The urge to say anything was overwhelming, yet Cade wasn’t sure if words were necessary, it felt more like this was a moment which would require an action rather than words. And honestly: he couldn’t tell Optimus countless times that he loved him.
He got up, walked a few steps over Optimus’ digits until he was closer to his face. He leaned forward and placed a gentle kiss on Optimus’ lower lip-plate.
Inside Cade was congratulating himself, that he had finally found the guts to kiss Optimus and that he had probably surprised Optimus, since Cade was certain that Optimus had never suspected that Cade would be the first to kiss the other and that had been the case.
