Summary: He crossed three troubled dimensions, risking life and limb, just to bring her home again. A simple confession wasn't going to be enough.

Typically, girls didn't buy flowers for boys, but Yuya was no ordinary boy. This was someone who started out as a clown and come back a hero. Bringing smiles to worlds that hadn't seen them in who knew how long, overcoming a dark power and taming the dragons associated with it as his own, helpng a family save their grieving father from himself.

And he did all that to bring me home again after I disappeared.

Yuya Sakaki wasn't just a boy, he was the boy she loved beyond the shadow of a doubt. Besides, after all the mixed messages she'd kept sending him, it was time to send one she meant. And lucky for her, Ruri knew everything about the language of flowers. Daffodils, white heather, thornless red and yellow roses, and a single blue violet. All holding a message of love and friendship.

You never returned my declaration, but you didn't have to. I knew.

Yuya was waiting for her in the park, where she'd asked him to meet her. It was a nice day, but it was still early. No one around to potentially spoil the mood or distract them. And the ones still living in her and Yuya's heads had been behaving themselves lately.

(Well, Yuto and Ruri always did.)

"I hope you weren't waiting too long," Yuzu said.

"I just got here." Yuya smiled. "So...you said you had something important to tell me." She pulled the bouquet from behind her back, her cheeks hot as she presented it to him.

"I...I can't say it in words alone. Even now, all you did for me meant so much! I wouldn't still be here if it wasn't for you, Yuya. So..."

He took the bouquet with trembling hands, his face flushed. His eyes misted with tears, but for once he didn't pull his goggles over them.

"I know we've had our rough spots, but when you disappeared all I could think about was finding you again," he said softly. "I'd do it again...no, a thousand times over. You've been a part of my life since we were little, I can't imagine it without you."

He swallowed, his blush deepening.

"There's something I've been wanting to give you for a while as well," he went on. "In fact, I wish I'd had the nerve to do it when you finally came back that day." His free arm wrapped around her waist, and Yuzu's heart raced as she stepped closer. Laying her hand on his shoulder, she looked up and into his eyes.

A girl's first kiss was always described as fireworks going off, something intense, the world fracturing and reforming again. But for Yuzu, it was the final piece of a puzzle locking into place. Something she'd wished she had the courage to give him sooner, even if she hadn't known what was about to happen at the Junior Youth championship. Or during any moment they could be together at all in City, or Academia.

But here and now is just as special, maybe even more so now that we truly know what we mean to each other.

When they parted for air, both their hands were on the flowers, now between them. The single blue violet standing out against a sea of vibrant red, white, and yellow.

"I know I already said it, but...welcome home, Yuzu," he whispered, bumping his forehead against hers. She smiled, her nose brushing his.

"It's good to be home."
