[#170] A Literal Cybertruck (Transformers Cartoon G1 / ModernTimes crossover)
Theme Prompt: #170 - Progress
Title: A Literal Cybertruck
Fandom: Transformers Cartoon G1 / Current Times [crossover]
Rating/Warnings: Gen | None (unless you need a warning for Tesla)
Word Count: 1000
Summary: Megatron searches for a new vehicle-mode
AN: I am not getting paid for featuring Tesla and the Cybertruck in this story ;)
I will also peak into the future
“We’ve accomplished something!"
The engineers congratulated each other, knowing that this ‘something’ was a big step into a new direction of car engineering. Improvements would be made, history would be written, the masses would be split into two arguing fractions.
Megatron sat on his usual place in the Nemesis, pondering over the problem he was facing since quite some time. He had realized that he was in need of a different alt-mode if he wanted to remain on Earth and continue his plan as eagerly as he had done in the past, in which he had noticed that he would be better off if he could work more on his own. In his alt-mod he had always been depending on another Decepticon and honestly: he was tired of that.
He had come across some interesting vehicles he could use, especially the Military had a few tempting vehicles in their lines. Sure, the use of one of these would be too flashy and within a few seconds the Military would turn its attention towards him.
Even he knew he wouldn’t going to use an Abrams, he had imaged himself turning into the formidable tank, surprising the Autobots with heavy firepower. It was really a shame that they were living in peaceful times (at least for the humans), otherwise a tank would have been the best choice of vehicle-mode.
What else was there rolling over the streets of the States? Too much an Autobot would use. From a strategic point of view it would be wise to chose a disguise the enemy would use as well but he wanted to make sure that every soul on Earth, human or Autobot, knew that it was him: Megatron, leader of the Decepticons and future ruler over planet Earth and its measly inhabitants.
No Chevrolet, no Mustang, no Jeep and Primus forbid big rigs were off the table as well. He didn’t wanted to end up hearing behind his back that he was trying to show Motormaster who would be the ‘King Of The Road’ among Decepticons. Also, he would never chose a vehicle-mode which would be the same kind as Optimus’ one.
‘There must be some fitting vehicle-mode for on this damn planet’, Megatron thought. For some astro-seconds he wondered why he was so eager to turn into a vehicle and not something different. After all a plane which could fly at super-sonic speed would be useful as well. He surely had considered this choice as well but it wasn’t made to transport Transformers but this kind of airplane was one of the safest known to humans, which was tempting to change. Yet, Megatron had no desire to be involved in such a crash, even he had consoled himself, that he would find a way to survive and come back.
Therefore he had crossed of the A380 from his list of possible vehicle-modes, along with other cars, even some other electronic devices. The most interesting ones would have still required someone operating him in alt-mode.
While his digits moved over the keyboard, his optics were busy reading the headlines of the most recent released articles either online or in newspapers. Most of it was uninteresting but then his digits stopped and he re-read the headline once more.
That was exactly what he was looking for. A new, rather strange looking (at least according to human opinions) car had been created and would soon be released. Megatron knew by now, that ‘soon’ was an unspecific time in the future.
He would keep an eye on this car, which reminded him of the Cybertronian vehicle-modes. For a brief moment he felt homesick and Megatron caught himself hoping that this car would be further developed and released.
In the following time he kept an eye on the company who was responsible for this car. ‘Soon’ was an understatement and when he read that there would be another delay he began to became frustrated and toyed with the idea of scanning the prototype.
Megatron was aware that this wasn’t a good idea and would make him a highly sought after target, yet it was tempting. The more he had learned about the man behind this car the more he was certain that he could or rather should use him for his plans. Even teaming-up with a human was more like Optimus and on the rare occasions when he had teamed-up with them he had regretted it deeply. Humans tend to be backstabbers and there were only a few examples on this planet, who wouldn’t change sides if matters would become serious and their life was at stake.
Time crawled forward, battles against the Autobots where fought and lost and he was still dependent on one of his subordinates to operate in alt-mode.
Starscream was still a lousy shooter and a traitor, yet he remained with him.
Finally the mysterious ‘soon’ was there. More delays had caused Megatron to assume that he would have to look for a different vehicle-mode.
As expected the internet and magazines were stuffed with articles about it. Happy customers left enthusiastic reviews online, talked about what a driving experience the Cybertruck was.
Not long after the successful release Megatron left the Nemesis accompanied with Soundwave, his most trusted subordinate. He could have gone alone but one could never be sure about the absence of Autobots.
It didn’t took the two Decepticons long to find a Cybertruck parked next to an expensive looking hotel. Scanning the vehicle was done within a few astro-seconds.
It was strange feeling to have a so much bigger alt-mode which didn’t needed mass replacement.
‘I’ll need some time to get used to it’, Megatron thought while he transformed back into robot-mode.
“Are you convinced that this was the right choice?” Soundwave asked, while examining Megatron’s slightly changed new appearance which came with a new vehicle-mode but the grey color remained, even it was a few nuances darker than before.
“Doesn’t it remind you of our lost home my dear Soundwave?”
