[#173] Asleep, but awakened (My Time at Sandrock)
Theme Prompt: #173 - Escape
Title: Asleep, but awakened
Fandom: My Time at Sandrock
Rating/Warnings: G/None
Bonus: No
Word Count: 293
Summary: Catori has come to Sandrock for a reason.
Catori has escaped from her past.
She has dreams of becoming the next Musa. Of being rich and respected. Her husband does not understand, so she divorces him. Her mother says she understands, but Catori can see in her eyes that she truly doesn't. On the other hand, her mother is willing to take in Catori's son while Catori establishes her entertainment empire in tiny Sandrock.
Catori has an entertainment center now. She's even managed to expand from her initial investments. The entertainment center is bigger now; the hotshot young builder down by the train tracks was willing to work for the pittance that Catori was able to pay him. Same for the museum. It's grander, surely it will bring people to Sandrock. More business for her, for Owen, for Arvio, even for Amirah, Vivi, and Mabel!
People even trickle into Sandrock every so often to do sandrunning now. She makes just enough to pay her sole employee, with promises to pay her more once the money starts coming in. Sure, people are afraid of running into bandits, especially that Logan, but once they really see Sandrock and her Catori World, they'll know it's worth all the danger.
Yeah, she has yet to recoup any of her investment, and yeah, she hasn't made it yet. But even Musa took a while to build his empire. He made it and so will she.
Sometimes it seems like she's escaped from one terrible situation just to find herself in another. But she stubbornly holds onto her hope. Because this time, she will not be trapped. She will become rich, and famous, and she will truly escape from the drab world of her past to a brighter future.
