[#014 | SECONDHAND] Challenge Post

Challenge 014:
SECONDHAND
Most people associate something that is new with a superior quality or meaning, but there are lots of things in life that come to us via someone else. It could be a family member, a friend, or a stranger, but many times they will have left a mark on the thing we receive from them. Will it be viewed as a flaw, or is that prior usage considered worthwhile experience? Write a story in which a character receives or gains something secondhand.

BONUS GOAL: Emergency Repair

If your submission contains something that needs to be fixed immediately/ASAP, that entry will earn an extra point to be tallied during voting!

Challenge ends Monday, May 23rd at 9:00PM EST
• Post your submission as a new entry using the template in the profile
• Tag this week's entries as: [#] submission, 014 - secondhand

Can the secondhand object be metaphorical as well, or at least is not restricted to the physical / literal definition?
