Challenge 189: ANNIVERSARY

Is it a birthday? A national holiday commemorating a war, or the end of one, or a transition to something new? The anniversary of a first date, or first day at a new job? A wedding? Or a sadder anniversary, like the date of a breakup or a death? Whatever it is, it’s a day that your characters – or the people around them – have chosen to commemorate. Why is this particular anniversary important? Do your protagonists and the people around them agree that it should be important, or is it something that the protagonists celebrate when no one else does – or refuse to celebrate with everyone else? Is it an ancient tradition, or something new and special? How do they commemorate this anniversary; is it a private, personal affair, or a big celebration? Write a story about an anniversary. BONUS GOAL: Time to Party! If your submission features party hats (in any form), it will earn an extra point to be tallied in voting!
