Summary: It’s Jim and Blair’s first Anniversary but Jim thinks it’s the other Anniversary.
Blair was watching to see if Jim was coming off the elevator. Blair had called him and told him he needed to get back to the bullpen soon. Blair was going to take him for a special Anniversary party. Jim had told Blair he was on his way. That was 20 minutes ago. Blair was pissed. Blair had to tell Jim something, so that was it. Now Jim wouldn’t be surprised.
In the conference room was Simon, Joel, Megan, Brown and Rafe wearing party hats with a cake and punch waiting for Jim and Blair. It had been one year since Blair had become a Major Crime Consultant and everyone in the bullpen wanted to show their joy at having Blair and Jim working with them. Henri kept blowing his party blower noisemaker driving Simon nuts.
“Brown, if you don’t settle down, I’m going to shove that noisemaker up your ass.”
Everyone laughed but Simon. He was serious.
Jim finally came walking out of the elevator and said, “Where to, Chief.” Jim was already sporting a hardon, because he thought Blair was talking about their six-month anniversary at home.
Blair said, “Come help me for a second, Jim. We have to get something from the conference room.”
Blair started walking and Jim was getting harder as he watched Blair’s ass. Jim had no idea who was in the room. He could have listened, but that would have been too simple.
Blair opened the door and everyone yelled, “Surprise!”
Jim pulled Blair in front him and said, “I’ll be right back. He turned and took off for the restroom. Blair watched him leave and wondered what was going on.”
Blair sat down with everyone else at the table and said, “He had to make a pit stop, I guess.”
Megan whispered in Blair’s ear. “I think he thought it was some other kind of anniversary.”
“Oh, shit,” Blair whispered.
Jim walked through the door right then and said, “I told the guys in the bullpen we’d bring them cake and punch. You know how much cops love cake and punch.”
“Were you surprised, Jim?” Simon asked.
“Not really, but it sure is nice that you all thought of Blair.”
“It’s all of our anniversaries. It’s been a year that he’s a partner to each of us.”
They all started eating cake and drinking coffee and punch until Blair said, “Well, we have to get. Things to do.”
“Are you going out to eat?” Simon asked, hoping he could invite himself.
Blair cut him off at the pass. “No, we’re going to his dad’s house tonight. I told him we’d be late.”
“Go, have a good time, you two,” Simon said.
Once they got into the truck and Jim asked, “Where are we really going?”
“Home, James. Our six-month Anniversary is tonight. We’re going to be busy.”
“We can take the party hats off, can’t we Chief?”
“Duh. I forgot they were on. I was watching your ass not your head.”
Both men laughed as Jim started driving home.
