Challenge 192: SPOTLIGHT

All eyes on you! Whether it’s an elementary school piano recital or a presidential address or a sold-out concert, the spotlight (metaphorical or literal) can be a lot of pressure! There’s a lot of people watching you (even if it’s just your fourth-grade class and their grandmas), and they’ll see everything you do, whether it’s a brilliant success or abject failure. It can be an opportunity to showcase your skills or draw attention to a cause near and dear to you; but it can also be terrifying, bringing the potential for a failure with very high consequences. Being under a spotlight means visibility, for better or for worse. How do your characters feel about the spotlight? Do they embrace it? Hide from it? Ignore it? Write a story about a spotlight. BONUS GOAL: “Don’t get cocky.” If your submission features this line, it will earn an extra point to be tallied in voting!
