Summary: Jim is having a terrible day.

Jim Ellison was having an extremely bad day. Everything he touched, turned to fucking shit. First, he handed in the wrong report and on it, he put another report’s answers. Simon Banks, his captain, had to tear him a new one. He wouldn’t have done that if Blair was helping him, but no, Blair was busy helping Megan Connor that day. Jim seemed to come second these days. Jim realized that he was being infantile about this, but he needed Blair’s help sometimes, too.

Jim got a call from his snitch, and Jim met him downtown for a tip on a murder suspect. Jim was chomping at the bit. When Jim got there, no sign of his snitch and he waited for an hour, but no sign of him. It was a wasted one hour of Jim’s time that he could have been looking for someone else.

When he got back, Rafe and Brown told him his snitch called and changed the location. The two of them had gone and they got the suspect they were looking for. Rafe could tell Jim was pissed and finally said, “Oh, by the way, you owe your snitch $100.00 for the good tip.”

Jim knew it was just another thing that was going wrong that day. Simon walked into his doorway and said, “Ellison, my office.”

Jim walked in and said, “Yes?”

“Jim, I understood that you were meeting your snitch for the tip and wasn’t I surprised when Rafe and Brown brought the suspect in? What’s with you today. First you broke a coffee pot, then you broke your coffee cup and next you ending up filing the wrong report. See if you can get yourself together, Ellison. Or do you need to go home?”

Jim fumed and said, “I don’t need to go home. I’m just having a bad day is all.”

“Well, have it somewhere else. Get back to work.”

Jim sat down and Blair sat across from him and said, “Why did Brown and Rafe have your suspect downstairs? I thought you were going to find him?”

Jim explained what happened and Blair almost laughed but stopped because he could tell Jim was really pissed off.

“Do you need help with any paperwork?” Blair asked, sweetly.

“I would love some help, Chief. I’m having a fucking awful day today. Did you hear about me breaking the coffee pot this morning? I had to stop doing what I was doing and go and buy another one because that was a spare one. So I bought two, made two pots of coffee and got my cup and broke it into little pieces before I could get a cup. It was the cup you gave me at Christmas. Then Rafe and Brown, got my man and Simon tore me a new asshole for filing the wrong report on the wrong person. He asked me if I needed to go home.”

“Wow, it does sound like a fucking bad day. Try and stay calm, Jim. Let me have a couple of your reports and I’ll get busy on them.”

Jim finally smiled and handed two to Blair. Jim got busy on the two that were left and things seemed to be looking up. Blair finished the two he was working on and had Jim sign them and took them into Simon’s office.

Megan walked over and said, “Sandy, I need your help with the paperwork. You were there, so I need your input. Blair made a face at Jim that told Jim he was on his own.

When it rains, it pours Jim finished both of his reports and Simon said, “You have a dead body. Grab Sandburg and see what type of problem they had with this body.”

“Yes, sir. But I’m alone. Sandburg is with Connor in the conference room.”

“I guess you’ll take it then. Good luck, Jim.”

When Jim arrived at the scene, he found out it was a child that was hit by a car. The child, a little boy, died at the scene. Jim hated any calls that involved children. The paramedics were trying to tell the mother what had happened and she was hysterical. The woman who hit him, was also hysterical. Jim was on the verge of being hysterical himself. He started taking all the info down from everyone around. The street cops had done a very good job, so that helped Jim a lot.

Four hours later, Jim was on his way back to the station when he was going through an intersection and a big truck t-boned his precious truck. It took the fire department an hour to get Jim out of the truck. It was totaled and Jim was heartbroken, not only that but his ankle and leg were both throbbing. When they got him out, they explained that he had two breaks. One in his ankle and the other in his upper leg. Jim just laid down in the ambulance and closed his eyes and said, “Why me?”

On the drive to the hospital, they hit every bump in the road they could find, making Jim hurt even more. But at least the day was done for the most part. Maybe Blair would actually make it up to the hospital to bring him home. Jim knew this day was done and he was glad of that. Now, he just had to wait for Blair to show up to the hospital. Then he would be a happy man.

Wow, that was a truly horrible day, and now he'll be on crutches for weeks, on desk duty, answering phones and doing paperwork. That sucks.

I've put my characters from FAKE who are cops into a similar position with broken bones. They hate it, lol! Then I have to be nice to them so they'll forgive me.
