[#201 | Pyrrhic Victory] Challenge Post
Challenge 201: PYRRHIC VICTORY |
n. a victory that is not worth winning because so much is lost to achieve it Some fights, whatever they may be about, just aren’t worth it. Maybe winning the fight requires sacrificing something: crossing a deeply-held moral line, destroying a weapon or tool that you know you’re going to need later, or even losing a friend or family member. Maybe you can win, but it’ll require so many resources that you won’t be able to do anything else afterward. Maybe the plan all along was to lose this fight, and somehow you didn’t. How do your characters handle victories that just aren’t worth it? Have they ever experienced it? What did it cost? Write a story about a pyrrhic victory. If your submission includes this line, it will earn an extra point to be tallied in voting! |
Challenge ends Monday, December 4 at 9:00PM EST. • Post submissions as new entries using the template in the profile • Tag this week's entries as: [#] submission, 201 – pyrrhic victory • If you have questions about this challenge, please ask them here |
