[#208] Like Father Like Son (Five Nights At Freddy's)
Theme Prompt: #208 - Parallels
Title: Like Father Like Son
Fandom: Five Nights At Freddy's
Rating/Warnings: T | mentions of canon crimes
Bonus: Yes
Word Count: 416
Summary: It dawns on Michael how much he has in common with his father and Helpy offers some comfort
AN: To prevent confusion: Helpy is around 4 inches tall (haha, the ava is so misleading, he's really just a tiny bear)
“We’re not so different.”
Michael’s voice seemed to too loud in the silence of his office and the words seemed to hang in the air even after he had spoken them. The truth of them was haunting him his whole life, for decades he had tried to convince himself that he was not like this father but one look into the mirror was enough, or rather had been enough when he had been still human and alive. Back then one just had to look at him and knew that he was William Afton’s son.
‘We’re both dead and still roaming over the surface of Earth’
Michael shivered at that thought, the painful reminder that he might appear more human that his father but was still far from re-claiming to be a man. At least he had kept a somewhat human appearance but being an organ-less zombie with purple skin could hardly be described as an appearance goal, still better than being morphed with the Springbonnie suit.
“Michael?” Helpy’s voice seemed to come from far away, when the small white-pink bear was sitting on the desk right in front of him. He looked at Michael with his big round eyes, worried about the distant expression in Michael’s eyes.
“What are you talking about?” Helpy got up, walked towards the edge of the desk and hopped onto Michael’s lap.
“Unwanted parallels”, Michael remarked with a low voice as he picked up Helpy.
The small animatronic bear was a constant reminder that his fate was connected what his father had created, he even had the same job as he had at one point.
His hands where covered in family blood but he had never wanted that to happen, the death of his younger brother had given him years of torment.
As he looked at Helpy he noticed another parallel, he was wearing a bear mask, the counter part to the rabbit his father was in a more than figurative way. He was wearing the mask of the predator and he had sworn that one day he would catch the rabbit.
He felt Helpy crawling up to his shoulder and seconds later he pressed his cool metal hands against is cheeks to resemble a hug. “Don’t be sad” Helpy begged him.
“I never wanted to be like him, I despise what we have in common.”
“You’re not like him. You have a good heart, Michael”, Helpy remarked as he sat on Michael’s shoulder, patting his shoulder with his small hand.
