[#211 | Hesitation] Challenge Post
| Challenge 211: HESITATION |
Sometimes it’s hard to act fast, no matter how much you need to. Maybe our hero doesn’t quite know what they’re doing; they haven’t finished their training, or they’re hearing conflicting orders, or they just aren’t sure this is the right thing to do. Or maybe someone else didn’t move quickly and sent a chain reaction down the line. Whatever happened, someone hesitated. This isn’t always a bad thing! Sometimes hesitation can be the exact right decision, allowing time to deescalate a situation or at least better-analyze it. On the other hand, sometimes you need quick, decisive action, and hesitation can be (perhaps literally) fatal. How often do your characters – or the people around them – hesitate? How does that work out for them? Have they ever managed to avert a catastrophe by stopping to think, or does that always go badly? Write a story about hesitation. If your submission is between 700-799 words long, it will earn an extra point to be tallied in voting! |
| Challenge ends Monday, March 13 at 9:00PM EST. • Post submissions as new entries using the template in the profile • Tag this week's entries as: [#] submission, 211 – hesitation • If you have questions about this challenge, please ask them here |
