Challenge 301: LOST IN THE WOODS

Maybe it was supposed to be a quick walk to the other side of the local forest. Or was it part of a much longer journey, one that everybody knew was dangerous? Either way, something hasn’t gone to plan. The path is flooded or overgrown; the maps are old and out of date; or maybe our protagonist just has the worst sense of direction in the world, and now they’re lost. Can your characters find their own way out, or do they need to be rescued? Is it a minor blip in an otherwise easy journey, or a potentially life-threatening error? How do they handle it? Write a story about getting lost in the woods. BONUS GOAL: “We’re not alone! There’s bugs!” If your submission features this line, it will earn an extra point to be tallied in voting!
