[001] A Rogue's Uniform (Skies of Arcadia)
Theme Prompt: 001 - New Beginnings
Title: A Rogue's Uniform
Fandom: Skies of Arcadia
Rating/Warnings: Probably SFW - some innuendo but nothing really serious. Game spoilers.
Bonus: No
Word Count: 382
Summary: The story behind Fina's new clothes.
Fina's new outfit hadn't been Vyse's idea, no matter how many people liked to tease him about how much he must enjoy being surrounded by scantily-clad ladies. (He did, more often than not, but that wasn't the point.) He'd been as surprised as Fina had when Aika had come back home from one of their expeditions with several yards of fabric and a measuring tape, and when she'd wasted no time pulling Fina aside.
"Aika, what is all of this?" Fina had asked, looking at the soft blue and white fabric. It wasn't the same heavy stuff that Aika's dress was made of, but it had the same handmade look, not like her robes at all.
"Well, I was thinking," Aika said, glancing at doodles of shapes that Fina didn't recognize on what looked like sailcloth. "After what we've been through together, I thought it might be time for a new outfit."
"Why?" Fina asked, furrowing her brow. "What's wrong with my robes?"
"Nothing, nothing! I like them, you know that!" Aika shook her head, holding up the measuring tape. "But you want to stay with us and be a Blue Rogue, right?"
"Of course," she answered. "I wouldn't want to be anywhere else."
"Well, I thought you might want to know what it feels like to dress like a Blue Rogue. So I bought some cloth from Nasrad, and I figured I could get some measurements and make something for you."
"Oh! Sure! I'd like that, I think. I just... didn't expect it, is all!"
"That's fine. Just give me a few minutes. Oh, and you'll want to put your arms out to your sides...."
It took her thirty minutes to get the measurements right - it was easy to get distracted, and Vyse coming in to see what was going on didn't make it any easier to focus. But once Aika had that down, she'd been able to give Fina her new clothes in a few days.
Fina got dressed quickly so that she could stare at herself in the mirror. She barely recognized herself, and the rough fabric felt strange against her skin, but she couldn't help but smile.
So that was what a Blue Rogue looked like. It was nice, she thought; it made her feel more like she belonged there.
