Twenty seven.

Law was twenty seven now. The crew had spent the day throwing him a party, and he had to admit, it was good.

Twenty seven.

Finally alone, Law found himself leaning back against the door, hand pressing against his chest. He....

A year older than Cora-san.

Fourteen years ago, Law had expected to die. He had been ready for it. Then Cora-san happened. Cora-san found a way for him to live, found a way to make Law want to live.

Fourteen years since Cora-san had died so that Law could live.

Now Law was twenty seven. A year more than Cora-san ever had the chance to see.

Fingers pressing against the tattoo on his chest, Law let himself sit, shoulders shaking as he started crying. He had outlived Cora-san in all the way he could, and it hurt. Cora-san should have lived, but he hadn’t.

So Law was going to have to do it for him.

Didn’t mean he couldn’t still mourn for the important moments that Cora-san missed.

That was the goal. Poor Law has been holding that in for a long time.

Oh, jesus. "I'm a year older than they are" is so rarely explored as a trope compared to others, this is heartwrenching.

All due to a chance comment by my roommate. She's an enabler. And it's a fun thing to explore. I might come back to the idea for a longer story.

Thank you~ If nothing else, I will expose people to the adorable that is Law and Rosi(Corazon) through fic here. >.> Though that may be because it's how I got into half my fandoms.

Law obviously was affected by Rosi's death in the canon, as he spent over ten years working on his revenge. Him realizing that he's now older than Rosi ever got to be.... It fit perfectly with the theme.

I'm not super familiar with this fandom (mostly osmosis through friends), but oh, this is sad and lovely. Packs a great emotional punch in very few words.

It's how I started. Only got into it in the last year or so.

Law has a lot of feels. Even if he mostly expresses them in canon in various shades of asshole. But it was fun writing this in such a short set of lines. Short works really well for pure gutpunch emotions.
